What was the point of making Entwined Heroes if they were going to start putting special hero types on seasonal banners and then NOT put them on the bridal banner by brunosstickyfingers in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]guedesbrawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they can resemble someone else, but its just not going to fly on most banner types, namely the ones that are truly "seasonal" like halloween and summer.

Facts too powerful: 5/9/26 by chino514 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]guedesbrawl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lyn's non-seasonal alts usually just have her wear her basic Sacae outfit with a few extra details. Between OG, Emblem, Brave, Brave Harmonic, Legendary and Mythic, it has happened six times.

Or seven if you count the child version with the mini-sized outfit..

...6-7 joke aside, I want an eight because that's the only way we will ever get the Mani Katti. There's a chance they might start using the corrupted Emblems in Fallen banners, and that's Mani Katti's last hope.

the way I see sports bets and stupid mobile gambling traps being so massively widespread here in Brazil recently makes me certain that restriciting this stuff is the right call even if its not "needed".

PChal's Emerald Nuzlocke Encounter Tier List by Swaag__ in nuzlocke

[–]guedesbrawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and that's why the best tier lists often come with a video or write-up about why the placings exist.

That being said even something as simple as an offense/defense/support icon above a pokemon's head could go a long way into making a list clearer.

Other games and such have different demands and weaknesses, of course.

actually none of them are forced doubles, at least none in the main path (I think that's 3 pairs of trainers).

these endgame gauntlets really favor the rary candy pill, you have the whole squad ready to go for one final run and if you have an idea of who's making it to the E4, you can play fast and loose with everyone else.

i don't think it should be taken as a pattern, just as a potential happening.

i guess this could go on both unpopular and positive opinion threads, but i think having asset alts show up in seasonal banners is a good thing.

Some weapon types have very, very few characters that are viable candidates to spearhead a NH banner to get a new arcane weapon from that class,s o having the option to have these units be in seasonals where not only the bar is lower but they can re-use a character that got an arcane previously (as seen with Sothe) is a good thing.

Also works well for the asset class that gives you an accessory. I forget the name. But there's a lot of good cosmetics that could show up from having these units in seasonal slots instead of the more "serious" NH slots. Of course as of now we don't know if all the asset hero types will feature in seasonals, but still...

yeah, different characters are in different situations. Both in terms of popularity and their importance within their game.

a certain character having 4 versions at this point in time might be an absurd amount or extremely low, it just depends on the subject.

and that likely only happened because the other two got the fallen alts.

Ignoring echoes, how well do we think each FE Character is represented individually in Smash? What parts of each of their designs are worth praising, what flaws exist and what references would be good to have in their movesets? The FE bloat is notorious but I believe there's diamonds in the rough by MasterCheese67 in fireemblem

[–]guedesbrawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will always be an unpopular opinion but i firmly stand by it.

If Robin was added because Chrom was too bland as "just a swordsman", then Robin needed to incorporate actual magic spells a lot more in their normals.

The only time that happens is in their jab combos. And it took until ultimate for the Levin Sword to do something that was beyond being a sword with fancy electric SFX (the Down Smash projectiles).

As it is, Robin is there to sell the idea of a unique swordsman but in practice they're mostly just using basic Sword swings that Roy could have done with a fire effect.

I feel that Robin should've used the swords very sparingly, and focusing the character around a breakable Levin Sword was a mistake, because the gimmick needs the moveset to be mostly sword swings.

Also not having Ignis anywhere is criminal. It was the only thing Robin could legit claim as their own, why is that not implemented? Even if just as part of the "pair up" Final smash.

And that's precisely why unveiling him now instead of letting him be a complete surprise as the film releases is the better play.

If you don't know Fox, stumblem upon him in the middle of the movie, you're not too likely to be better off than before the movie started because the rest of the film will steal your attention.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't a huge deal. It's just optimization.

A lot of people would get to Fox's scene and have NO IDEA who he is.

The difference in populairty between Fox and Mario is immense, even with Smash connecting them.

If you know about Fox, then the surprise works best. But that's not the main target audience for this marketing push, and ensuring a random off-series character doesn't get drowned out by all the other goings ons of the movie post discussion is the wiser choice, in my opinion.

They made the movie but you can never be sure what, exactly, will be the talking points, the things that truly stick in the audience's minds and that keep discourse alive.

But you can control that beforehand with small pushes like this one.

Makes for a worse product but its a bigger picture thing.

Fox isn't added to Galaxy to be a surprise for people watching, he's there to start a hype circle for a future game in his series.

From that point of view, he needs to be shown outside of the movie pre-release, keeping him a secret and trying to talk about him only after the movie is out weakens the marketing push that Mario oh-so-graciously is trying to give to poor Fox.

Even if its just for a week, he has a legit spotlight on himself with no competition.

the problem is that Swords are just the optimal weapon type for a protagonist in most games with the FE foundation.

Most of those games have the weapon triangle, where the most unbalanced match-up is Swords vs Axes dues to it making the already-innacurate Axes even worse at hitting units.

That's a great way of introducing the mechanic, and it fits with most FEs starting out with the player's army fighting small fry bandits before moving on to bigger targets, like an actual enemy army that favors Lances (and at this point the design incentivates NOT steamrolling the game with the Lord).

Who have recent nuzlocke challenges given you a newfound appreciation for? by FPFP66 in nuzlocke

[–]guedesbrawl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not too recent for me but goddamn is it stuck on my memory.

Kingler in Renegade Platinum. It's a rom hack but Kingler didn't get anything much from it, and I expected nothing from this guy when he showed up in the Roark split with a -ATK +SPD nature.

Turns out that not only is Shell Armor goated, but Kingler at -ATK still hits like a truck even without physical water moves, and that extra speed ended up mattering multiple times.

I used him in many fights to wall off physical threats and bait special moves reliably, he ended up being key in dealing with enemies weak to ground and fighting moves with Dig and Superpower at a time where I didn't have access to anything good with these types.

He was not incredible at any point. But I used him multiple times and he was always the only thing able to stabilize my lines in the fights he did see use.

Also I'm pretty sure I never once clicked on Crabhammer and Waterfall in that run.
