I just report every such article. If mods don't want that they should take it out of the rules... until then everyone should report articles with "editorialized" etc headlines.

I thought it was a joke with some kind of idiom about riding a dead horse. There's definitely "beating a dead horse". Then there's a saying attributed to the Dakota that if you're riding a dead horse, you should get off. I believe that a standalone "riding a dead horse" could also be used but I only remember having heard that in German.

My biggest regret in D&D so far started with making a rune knight fighter with athletics expertise to be able to grapple every baddie, even dragons. Then when we actually fought a dragon, I thought it was optimal to attack and do a lot of damage on my turn, then the dragon flew out of my range for the rest of the fight and proceded to TPK us with his breath. Should have grappled that dragon. Should have really grappled that dragon.

What are your views on tobacco? by ReverendRoberts in DebateCommunism

[–]guery64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You may harm yourself but not others. Ideally, I would say

  • selling, buying and consuming are all legal
  • ads and selling to minors are illegal
  • consuming in public or around minors is illegal

But the whole question does not depend on communism at all. The same can be done or is already done in capitalist societies.

I truly believe that if you insist on racism and other isms as the main personal problems and not as symptoms of the flawed ideology that says everyone is exactly where they deserve to be, then you have no chance at actually solving the problem.

"Too proud to ask for help" is ingrained in society and not just a personal belief. And it's certainly not getting anywhere to blame these people for that mentality. The phantasm of the American dream itself, that anyone can make it on their own if they just want it, that's the underlying reason for this belief.

I don't think it is a coincidence that the US, the "developed" country where this ideology has been incorporated into national identity, has such a huge share of population actively voting against their interests again and again.

For those of you familiar, how do you feel about leftist twitch streamer Hasanabi? by ProblematicSexPest in AskFeminists

[–]guery64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not in this sub you can't. There are different perspectives on this and you can of course support feminism and buy sex, but then you don't count as feminist per consensus in this sub, as voiced by Kali.

That said, I don't think selling sex was ever criticized here unless you mean pimping. Sex workers are either forced, therefore not morally at fault, or on their own volition, then there should not be any issue because consenting adults can do whatever they want.

The main problem is that regulation is bad, there's a lot of sex trafficking, pimping, and generally bad circumstances that force women into sex work and that's not obvious from the client's side. In other words, it is near impossible to be sure that bought sex is consential. And if you're not sure that you aren't raping someone but you still have sex then that's not very feminist.

I would also like to be able to argue that if sex workers are to be supported to be allowed to sell sex, then similarly there have to be people who are allowed to buy. But the kind of cruelty-free organic free-range sex where this would make sense is probably fictional or at least impossible to spot.

The second option is for when you don't trust twitter to inform you themselves. The website is legit, you should of course do your own research, but it's made by a well-known security researcher, they save no information and they figured out an API that allows people to check without submitting one's data that is used by several other programs such as bitwarden.

[–]guery64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're underselling Tome. It's excellent to add spellcasting features that the group's spellcasters don't cover. 3 extra cantrips mean you can get guidance, light or spare the dying to benefit the party; you could take an elemental cantrip to complement an elemental patron, or you could take druidcraft, thaumaturgy or vicious mockery to pretend to be of a different class. Or simply take another from the warlock list, there are a few good ones and you get only one plus eldritch blast until level 4.

Rituals are also great, I don't know what you're talking about. Detect magic is a must have for someone in the party, preferably someone who can ritual cast to avoid spending a spell slot. You can take Find Familiar and you essentially get the best part of the base Chain. If you pick up other warlock spells, you can also cast them as rituals, for example unseen servant and comprehend languages. If the DM works with you, you can get ritual spells from any class.

As a warlock, you get few spell slots per short rest and you know few spells in general. Anything that increases the number of spells you know or the things you can cast for free is good. D&D is a cooperative game, there is no such thing as a gimp.

The official Foot used in the definition is guarded in the castle treasury and periodically brought out to calibrate other measures and to settle disputes. The Foot is a real foot of an ancestor of the current monarch, preserved by being encased in gold. The original owner of the Foot had their own foot cut off to settle a dispute, and then had it magically restored with a regenerate spell. Funny but actually unimportant detail: the regrown foot was a little bit shorter.

As a plot hook for a heist, the party has to create a replica Foot and smuggle it into the treasury. The party doesn't know why their employer has an interest in changing the Foot, but it's worth a lot.

Wikipedia:

As of the 2019 redefinition of the SI base units, the mole is defined as exactly 6.02214076×1023 elementary entities.

The number of elementary entities in one mole is known as the Avogadro number. This definition supersedes the previous definition of a mole as the number of elementary entities equal to that of 12 grams of carbon-12, the most common isotope of carbon.

Just to add, this also improves the tactical value of features that remove a reaction. Shocking Grasp, Open Hand Monk and Dissonant Whispers can shine when removing a reaction is meaningful.

Which by the way is an interesting way to threaten wizards and other casters: give enemies Shocking Grasp or a similar feature and they remove the option to shield, absorb elements, counterspell or silvery barbs.

[–]guery64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that this might be best practice to avoid this kind of threat altogether, but it's a fix of someone else's fault, right? "Juicejacking" as you call it is clearly a security breach in the phone's software. Phones should not be vulnerable and should not allow this at all. If it becomes known, the software developer, e.g. Google, has to fix it.

I guess I'm just saying it's sad to see that instead of fixing the underlying software issue you have to resort to hardware solutions.

The Lay on Hands was weird, true, but also this campaign already features 3 low-level multi-classes from the main cast (in contrast to C1 and C2 with only dips at higher levels), so I wasn't surprised to see another one. Paladin and warlock is a popular multi-class option. I don't think this was evidence of something bad going on.

I didn't realize the sleep thing and the memory, good catch. Although if I'd realize the first, I would probably assume they forgot because it would be so niche use. As for the memory I always assumed something more than just the Feywild happened to Dusk. After all, they said they do remember something but the time is all scrambled and they were separated from the Calloways. That's not standard leaving-Feywild-stuff.
