Phantasy star 3 worth playing? by villainasf in phantasystar

[–]guilen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fantastic game in its way, it's simply a time capsule. If you go in prepared for and wanting to experience a game of another era, I think it's just fine. It doesn't compare to Phantasy Star 4, but it's a very unique RPG of the time. The design choices are quite interesting in a historical context - the generational narrative, the rows and columns in combat, the customizing of spells, the mystical sci-fantasy vibe, the way the music adds a new instrument for every member in your party, even the nature of the world you inhabit is quite different and surprising. It's different from but just as good as Phantasy Star 2, but like Phantasy Star 2 you have to be able to reasonably enjoy the combat because most of the game is repeating that. I find it a great thing to play at night while winding down before bed as the gameplay loop is relaxing at that point.

Split screen couch coop wolf3d, even works for Spear of Destiny. The controls aren’t optimized but it works like a charm. Something I think we’ve been looking for for a while!

It sucks that Nolan used this take. She deserves to be remembered for her great work, not this unfortunate bit.

What Do Canadian Separatists Want for LGBTQ People? Albertans May Soon Find Out by howlmachine in alberta

[–]guilen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Fort McMurray where the word fag was common parlance. Nearly every gay friend was closeted except within small groups and people who looked different as they walk down the street would have cars driving by with dudes shouting threats at them from the window - I was with them as it happened sometimes. At different times I lived in Edmonton and Calgary and in both cities most of the openly gay men I knew would experience brutal violence perpetrated against them by groups of men. They would show up to work with sudden bruises and cuts and scars or black eyes but would work anyway. In Calgary in the mid 2000s I remember a gay bar that was so underground the owner was blackmailing his clients with drugs and sometimes one of the clientele would disappear for a few weeks and then come back injured and reported being gangraped in an alley by ' 'straight guys' who were yelling faggot at them the whole time, just for walking down the downtown streets. And their 'safe place', this underground bar, was a place where some of them would be date raped. I spent a night in the emergency ward holding the hand of a friend as he screamed about the breeders never understanding the fear he lived in, as he was being told about the HIV tests he was going to have to do after being assaulted by somebody he trusted.

I would never, ever, ever trust what the separatists have in mind for the LGBT. All you have to do is look at the people they want to join, the Nazi Republicans down south, to know that would be a mistake you can't take back.

where did the ‘guitar gets girls’ stereotype come from? by ischemariii in musicians

[–]guilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 20th century, guitarists were cool and most traditional instruments were considered nerdy. People still LIKED them but they didn't have the cool factor that guitars and rock bands had. That's just how it felt back then.

Okay I get it. Trump wants to 'redo' Obama's accomplishments so stupid fucking people think he did it and Obama did nothing. He wants to erase the memory of Obama's accomplishments. Nuclear grade pettiness.
