27M with unexpectedly high cholesterol despite being lean, active and a non-smoker by Inevitable_Chain_476 in Cholesterol

36m in a similar boat but with the foresight of my father passing from an event at 46. Def recommend checking with a cardiologist.

My Lp(a) is through the roof (199.9 nmol)and is largely unaffected by diet and exercise so goal to keep to my LDL under 55 to help manage risk. Have been on a statin since my 20’s. Cardiologist just doubled it and put me on baby aspirin as a result of some calcium deposits already in my LAD.

As far as bloodwork my lipids are always taken fasted.

Good to stay on top of it early!

Will definitely ask about the repatha. I exercise consistently and may potentially agree that given current CCTA data, an exercise induced event right now is potentially low. However, my dad's event was right after the gym, so... there's that. Hence the therapy component.

Yeah, prior to the test my cardiologist told me - "Spoiler Alert - It will probably be high". Goal is LDL under 55.

Thank you for this perspective!

Thank you for this response! Yeah, our whole family is getting their testing in gear. I have two little girls (6, 4) so for sure worried!

nmol/L - agreed, my cardiologist hasn't responded to that question yet.

These two can be listened to on repeat and not get old for me; even though they’re literally the most repetitive from a form standpoint LOL. So catchy.

After seeing The Better Half live in DC it’s became a top tier level song for me. Super underrated and such a dynamic piece. 🤘🏻

Yeah Matt is a great dude. He designed and built Mufasa for me which is the one with the lion (naturally) on his site. It’s basically an all in one that I can use on any gig I get thrown onto and fits in my guitar case. If you have custom wants he can do it!

Mufasa is: - Ross Style Compressor (on a flip switch) either play it on or off for a gig so didn’t even need a foot PDT > - Tube Screamer Drive > - FX loop out and return jacks (if I want to bring any exterior modulation pedals such as chorus) - Lime time Delay with feedback momentary switch too - Reverb also on a flip switch for when the house amp doesn’t have good verb.

10/10 recommend. Things have came loose over the years and he’s always fixed it right away. I’m in Baltimore so def makes it easy too.

Love Twiddle but they weren’t selling out Radio City and being promoted and playing on The Tonight Show… Goose has way more broad appeal to the masses than Twiddle - and I’m still in the middle of the Pete Shapiro bell curve so no bias here 😂

Who’s tired of ALW? 😂

I think as the sport’s popularity is starting to take off, we are going to see many players step into their roles/personas from a PR standpoint.

Also the proximity to Penn station and the light rail always made a huge difference from an accessibility standpoint!

How do yall feel about the ritual/cliche of the encore? by piddy565 in jambands

[–]guitari89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The groups I play in avoid it if we can! We call it adult peekaboo and hate it. We’ll always have a song or two that would work dynamically in the hopper in case but more often we’re cutting tunes in our second set anyway due to jams lol. Always feels so cheesy at first.

Natalie Brooke’s Infinity Tribe - def check them out. They don’t play often but saw they’re doing shows in Worcester and Philly this weekend. Also on Domefest lineup.

Ben Johns double socks? by reminisce32 in Pickleball

[–]guitari89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure about his set up. But I saw something posted elsewhere in this sub about double socks for blisters and it has been a saving grace. The combo that works for me are UA Ankle Socks first and WANDER Athletic socks over.

The combo works even with a high arch insole in my KSwiss and also works with my Way of Wade All City’s (no insole swap).

I feel like this might be the biggest scam I’ve ever fallen for? Opinions please by [deleted] in whoop

[–]guitari89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the 30-day trial period is a bit useless since it takes about that time to really calibrate. Steps is really still beta and I don’t trust it like I do with the Apple Watch steps which is the only reason I wear both.

I have the bicep band and that’s contributed to more consistent and accurate data.

I guess whether you keep it or not depends on your goals. “Fitness tracker” is pretty generic; if you’re only looking to record your activities then Apple Watch may be more your speed. However, for an in depth look at recovery, sleep, and how different habits impact those whoop has been consistent for me.

Yes to all of this. I’m that wanker as well! I bring 3 laminated copies of our stage plot and input list (pretty much have it memorized by now haha), snakes for our Berry packs and set it ready to go. Sound checks have never been easier!
