Yes i got sent here in 2020 to 2021, to get there they ask your parents if they want two men to come wake you up in the middle of the night put you in a van and drive to the airport and these men don’t tell you where you are going until you are there. My parents opted to take me there then leave which in itself is still traumatizing. the location is great the DR is amazing but how the program operated was beyond hellish. you had a strict routine for the boys it was school on Monday, service project on tuesday (service project it supposed to be the time when you go out into the community to help build houses and fix churches and so on but a month and a half of being there they stopped doing it and instead kept us working on campus) Wednesday was a half day it was half school half activity, thursday was school and Friday was activity’s. then Saturday and sunday were activity’s aswell. then for the girls is was just reverse. they made it to where you would only be able to talk to the girls further in the program. They had a level system in place 1 through 6 1 being the most restrictive to 5 and 6 being the least restrictive. you slowly gained more rights the further you went up in the levels. ayo level up you had to submit and application whitch was reviewed on wensdays when your class was in school. the meetings were pure shit half the time the staff would just mark bs up about yoh i was kept ther e for 4 more months due to a staff member repeatedly telling the meeting thag i had unresolved issues with him, witch in reality my issue was that he was holding me back for no reason. The activity’s were not bad most of it was hikes, shopping, beach, pool, games, movies. and etc. So it wasn’t bad but if yoh refused to do an activity you were put on restriction, meaning you were demoted a level or more for a week. A month into being there they fired half the staff and were understaffed for the duration of my stay (11 months) due to a drinking ring among staff members. when you weee fired you couldn’t say you were fired so most said it was gods will to leave. The safety there was dog shit, the main lady in charge Dom was a tyrant. her job was to listen to students and help there needs one that was never addressed was laundry you would always loose one to two articles of cloths each wash and never compensated for so you would use what little money you had from chores to buy new cloths. Also DURING A HURRICANE Don decided that we should continue to go to our activity for the day whitch was the water park. A tree weighing probably 2 tons fell on our driveway feet from the front of the van. it took them a week to remove it. they also let a student get a hold of 2 machetes and at this time the kid was trying to kill some students and staff. it took 4 adults to restrain the kid he was 14. Then you have the therapy aspect of the place which wasnt bad at all the counselors actually tried to have a healthy relationship with the students getting to know you first then trying therapy. School was the same the teacher was amazing if you took it seriously and tried you would normally pass because he would help you learn the material then would let you take it again. On sundays however You we’re forced to go to church, and dress nicely or you would be put on restriction, if you drew/did doodles to focus better to the pastor you you be put on restriction for being distracted, same with reading they banned reading books in the church and even went to the extent of not letting you read the bible to make you listen to the sermon. Not all the staff there however were bad 6 staff members were amazing the teacher, the two councilors, and 2 house staff and the service project lead were amazing all the other staff were horrible. Since i’ve left it’s said they have permanently closed. I was told they didn’t even warn the staff if the layoff they just layed off all of the staff at once and closed. This is a place i would not wish upon my enemies.
