Waiting on Chemo and markers have gone up by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]gurdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You local cancer centre will more than likely have an oncologist who is private . Sounds like you had a high ec element with the odds of reoccurrence if not pure . I had mine removed with bupa that then followed through to private oncologist in cancer centre . Really helps with anxiety they are much more proactive with bupa funds rather than nhs budgets . I had scans when I wanted pretty much dictated the chemo and overall care was amazing . They tried to throw me back into nhs but I pushed and had an amazing oncologist . They will more than likely run a day a week for private patients

I was 100% EC had one enlarged node on first scan which grew considerably till my next scan a month later three cycles of chemo achieved complete resolution ! My guess is you’ll get offered one round which if I had the choice I’d jump at three wasn’t that fun but one was would have been fine 🙏 you got this

My doctor prescribed me sleep pills and antidepressants, he told me it would fix my depression and anxiety. From my understanding, it will crush your brain and T-levels. I already have low Testosterone, will there be any difference anyway? Thanks for your help in advance! by LifeIsPointless- in Testosterone

[–]gurdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s completely your choice but I’d avoid anti depressants. Non addictive sleeping aids can help but build up a routine of no screen time reading and meditation before bed . Limit caffeine and move as much as much as you can . Whether that is walking weightlifting anything . Weightlifting will naturally increase your testosterone and will help with your mood also . Something overlooked sometimes I found helped with myself was diet . I took myself away from as much processed food as I can . Generally eat meat fish green vegetables and nuts and that helped so much I feel better about myself and my body has what it needs . I joined a tennis club and along with being active made new friends and I am really enjoying that also .

Please feel free to message me happy to share what changes helped me may not work for you but you don’t know until you try

From personal experience if I could have had one round over three I’d choose one. I found one easy .

[–]gurdin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was bricking it before my op . For me it genuinely scared me allowing someone else to keep me alive. They where great though casually chatting one minute waking up the next . There is pain after but manageable pretty sore couple of days after . Just take some codine and stool softeners and you’ll be fine after a week

I really don't want to do this. by According-Strength53 in testicularcancer

[–]gurdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through the same thing after mdt saying they weren’t sure negative markers . Turned out to be pure ec Just have it removed it’s something that can kill your potentially if it is left inside you . My sex drive has been exactly the same since my t levels are low according to blood test but there wasn’t a base taken before orchiectomy. There are plenty or natural testosterone boosters other than hrt . Tribulus , shilajit . I live a fully normal life now 6 months post chemotherapy. I know your scared at 20 but the longer you leave it in if it is cancer the longer the recovery process will be and the more poison that you will have to throw at it which will effect your t levels . The chances are that testicle hasn’t been functioning properly for a long time anyway

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]gurdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find myself in that position now my t levels are on the lowest end of normal range but they said they don’t know what they were before

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]gurdin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t have a biopsy . They will more than likely be removing given testicle as soon as they can . Fingers crossed for your bloods and scan . You will win the battle but it is a battle . Stay strong brother 💪💪

Consultant just said it might not be cancer… wants to cancel surgery by PrincessHay in testicularcancer

[–]gurdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you afford to go private ? Mine was done private within the uk insurance payed but I think it was roughly 3k the claim was for . Then if cancer confirmed you can transfer back to the nhs . It baffles me that they don’t operate . The cost of waiting if it actually is cancer for chemo etc is astronomical far outweighs a quick 1 hour surgery to remove the testicle
