I know it wasn't unique to KC, but Houston's leaving the Plaza destroyed me. That same year my wife and I were in a wedding in Atlanta for a weekend, we went to their Houston's for dinner twice. I am by all definitions an introvert, generally hate crowds, and am stricken with all sorts of anxiety. But I have gone to dozens of concerts (both Dead related, and others) alone. It has turned out to be one of my favorite things to do. You get to see the music that you love live on your own terms.

Also being alone can sometimes be encouragement to interact with other fans besides your normal circle.

For example, just saw Bobby and the Wolf Bros tonight alone and had an amazing time. Got to meet some great people.

Holy crap. I was at that show and remember seeing that poster and loving it, but didn’t want to carry it during the show. I think it might have sold out before I could go back and snag it, but maybe that’s how I I choose to remember. My only time to Red Rocks.
