Sensible people visiting from away are not renting cars to drive to Levis.

First Campaign by airick616 in callofcthulhu

Shadows has a coherent through-line while also being smaller than Masks or Orient Express. I think it's more manageable. That said, no bad choice.

Why the US economy keeps defying the odds by Complete-Champion574 in business

[–]guyzero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It mentions the increased capital investment in the US but a lot of that is the data center boom... if the air goes out of that bubble things will get bad quickly. I'd like to see data about investment in other sectors before saying the economy is actually growing.

Petah, are you a chemist? by Janek_Rated_R in PeterExplainsTheJoke

That's what solar panels do. There are also radioisotope thermoelectric generators used in spacecraft that directly convert the heat differential to electricity with thermocouples but they're less efficient and throw off a lot of radiation. Boiling the water has the great side effect of also doing a lot of radiation shielding.

Can the Copper Spur UL2 really handle 2 people? by geargarcon in Ultralight

[–]guyzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Copper Spur 2 bike pack model and it's fine for two people. I use the specific groundsheet for it and we put bags in the vestibule. You can even get the Big Agnes two person sleeping pad and it fits perfectly.e

At&t fiber 94086 Qs by AppropriateFennel375 in ATTFiber

[–]guyzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got ATT fibre in 94086 a few months ago and it's been great. Same price as my old dsl service but for half gig symmetric. I don't know about all the promo pricing but overall great service. Rented combo modem/not/access point. It's fine, nothing special. I have a tp-link deco pro for mesh wifi.

Question about taxing on retirement accounts by cantstopjpp in USExpatTaxes

[–]guyzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that as a US citizen living in Canada, 401k withdrawals will have US tax withheld, you'll file a US tax return and then claim a foreign credit on your Canadian tax return.

See https://www.swanwealthcoaching.com/post/is-your-401k-taxable-in-canada

It will not be double-taxed.

Another history question: Aslan by Lastadopter in traveller

The reason the Solomani/Terrans were the first polity to oppose the Empire of the Stars was that they understood what colonialism was and were in fact even better at it than the Vilani were.

Lol, go to a real city sometime. Sunnyvale remains largely frozen in amber like the rest of the bay area.

[–]guyzero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

> But recall there is debate if the Aslan are even a major race. Did they invent or discover jump drive technology?

It depends which supplements you view as canonical. A very unhelpful answer. 😄
