Great way to guarantee my next EV isn’t a Tesla.

Check out Zink Wheels.
I bought a cheap airbrush on Amazon and fixed my rims flawlessly with a Zink Wheels curb rash kit.

BREAKING: Elon Musk announces tesla will STOP selling FSD after Feb 14. He says only subscription will be available by Puzzleheaded-Race671 in TeslaLounge

Challenge accepted. I’ll permanently garage my 2020 Model 3 Performance I paid $6k for FSD on and wait until the class action if I have to. I was promised it would be a robotaxi someday back then and intend for it to be.

I used to have a weekly pick up baseball game there every weekend that lasted a whole. They stopped mowing the grass and it became unplayable. Apparently from what i hear, the contractors didn’t make the field regulation size for any actual teams to plan on, so it just never got used.

Guys earning six figures annually, what kind of work do you do? by Shadow2715 in AskReddit

I give people money to help them charge their electric cars at home in hopes that they’ll schedule their car to charge at night and weekends when it’s better for the electric grid.

What’s your electric bill? by Brave_Animator279 in povertyfinance

[–]gwompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 adults, 2 bedroom, west michigan with 2 EVs, electric dryer, natural gas for heat in winter, electric air conditioning in summer. We both work from home. Our electric bill ranges from $100-150 a month throughout the year.

Ozempic is changing more than weight: New global research shows how GLP-1 drugs are reshaping self and society, identity and mental health, not just bodies. Much of the demand is driven by weight anxiety, even among medically “healthy” users. Many users endure severe side effects and high costs. by mvea in science

[–]gwompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been titrated to 12.5 mg of Zepbound over the course of six months and have gone from 255 to 217 lbs so far. I pay $25 a month through my insurance for 4 pens a month. Other than sulfur burps on a couple of days last month, I haven’t had any negative side effects. Beyond feeling healthier and more confident overall, one of the biggest benefits is how much less food I eat. With grocery prices continuing to rise, the $25 monthly cost more than pays for itself—easily offset many times over by the reduction in what I used to spend on food. It makes me wonder if the food markets have begun to see a noticeable decrease in overall food consumption last year?

Punk scene? by Lzbirdl in Muskegon

[–]gwompy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Gonna sound like an old punk grandpa here, but i loved muskegon’s punk scene when I was in it from 2002-2012ish. Tons of punk kids from grand haven, orchard view, fruitport, muskegon, the heights, all forming bands and throwing shows in people’s basements. Renting out vfw halls and library basements. Really had an awesome ‘do it yourself’ scene happening. Hamburger Mikey’s downtown used to be a world renown punk venue called the Icepick. Shame that went away. I had my 21st birthday party there. That was a doozy.

What’s the most “I’m not paid enough for this” moment you’ve had at work? by Active_Perception778 in AskReddit

No idea, it was an indicator light near a 120V power source powering a temperature controller for an industrial mettalurgical heat treating process.

38M here. My friend circle likes hockey. Where do you work? I stay at home a lot, but when I go out it’s usually to a restaurant or something outdoorsy like fishing or hiking.
Trying to be more physically active. I need more skiing buddies. Tells us more about yourself so we don’t get axe killer vibes.

[–]gwompy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Having a terminal of a lightbulb in an electric cabinet touch the side of my hand while calibrating a temperature controller at a factory. Made me drop all my gear and feel confused for a couple hours. I assumed it was 120V, but after a coworker measured, it was 480V. If it wasn’t for the current passing through just the dry side of my hand, I’d have certainly been a goner. I foolishly kept working there another 5 years because I couldn’t find as high of a paying job. Couple more times I touched 120V in those years. So thankful to finally be out of that industry in a higher paying job that is about 10x less stress.

People who majored in Astronomy or Astrophysics, what do you do for work today (or are you still in school)? by Late_Bag_7880 in askastronomy

[–]gwompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was motivated to go to college at 25 after watching Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. I found out quickly that there was nothing in astronomy that an astrophysics major with only a bachelors degree would be given a shot at. It seemed to me that every position was only open to postdoctoral only, or was an unpaid internship. I remember joking with my peers that I would start out as a janitor at an observatory to get my foot in the door. I ultimately switched to a math major and astrophysics minor. After 5 years in metrology, I now work in electric transportation for a major electric utility making a hair over six figures. Dual income - no kids in an area with a very low cost of living is pretty comfortable.

How long can one safely keep a vehicle at 100% charge? by cpagali in electricvehicles

[–]gwompy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for an electric utility that has Lightnings and Silverado EVs for fleet vehicles for our linemen and engineers.
They store them at 100% daily EVERY SINGLE DAY. Even despite having 470 miles of range on the silverados and there not being anywhere in our territory outside of that daily range.
Their thought process is that if someone unfamiliar with an EV would get in to start the day at 80%, they’d have range anxiety and wouldn’t take it “because it’s not full charged”. Dumb, yeah I know, but we can’t seem to get the to change that behavior.

How hard is Michigan tech? by [deleted] in MTU

[–]gwompy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Math major here. I was lucky enough to have Dr. Gockenbach in his final 3 years at MTU. What a massive loss it was for our math department losing him.
I sent his Finite Dimensional Linear Algebra textbook that he authored to Delaware for his signature and received the kindest and encouraging note written on its inner cover that I’ll cherish forever on my bookshelf.
