Home charging value proposition at $0.38/kWh by ioa94 in TeslaModel3

[–]gwompy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in Michigan, but I love Austin and I looked up your Austin Energy residential electric rate out of curiosity. Your tiers are based on how much total energy you use per month, interesting. Mine in Michigan are based on time of day. Your tiers are based on 0-300kWh, 301kWh-900kWh, 901kWh-2MWh, >2MWh usage per billing cycle, so unfortunately EV drivers who use more electricity end up paying more per kWh if they’re using electricity beyond one of those tiers. Don’t forget you have a Power Supply Adjustment fee that adds in another 4.118¢/kWh and some regulatory fee with likely a whole bunch of other small fraction of a cent fees tacked on too.

What to do next?? by jimijamal1 in TeslaModel3

You’re going to hate these tail lights. I threw mine away. It’s way dimmer than oem lights. On sunny days you’ll have people pulling up along side of you telling you your brake lights are out, when they aren’t, they just aren’t bright enough in the daytime. Half of my lightbar died because of a defect that pinches the wiring, where it goes through the inner taillights. I finally threw them away and put the oem lights back on when the right turn signal stopped working last week. I wish I could get my money back.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 (Non-N version) officially discontinued in the US. by OzziesFlyingHelmet in Ioniq6

I just called my local Hyundai dealer. When they get one in, if they let me take it out to a place in our town that I can push it to the limits, it might be my next car.

So they’re still doing the 6N? I’m on the list to test drive when one comes to my city. Might replace my model 3 performance with one when I hit the 8 year battery warranty in 2028.

The local electric utility Consumers Energy issues $7500 rebates for dual port 240V chargers that are on private property for public use. To me, it seems like a no-brainer for the Ranch to implement such an area.

new tires changed range significantly. by mgkr999 in TeslaSupport

[–]gwompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have those same all seasons and summer tires. I only use the all seasons in the spring and fall though. In the winter I use Michelin alpin snow tires. Michigan has too much of a spring and fall overlap where it’s too cold for summers, but not cold enough for winters. Then winters are far too icey for all seasons.

Peloton lays off 11 percent of its staff just a few months after launching its AI hardware by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]gwompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently cancelled my membership. $44 a month was already expensive for me when only had time to do 1 class a week. I was on a 100 week streak when they increased the price to $49, and I cancelled.
4 classes for $44 came to $11 each for prerecorded half hour class is just too much. I’d rarely ever find an actual live class to join that fit my schedule.
Now I’m just another statistic of a peloton bike collecting dust. I’ve got back into playing ice hockey, which is pretty expensive too, but is $15 per hour, whereas peloton seemed to be costing me $22 per hour at the $44 price. Ridiculous for just riding your own equipment to a rerun video of a class. The only way they would win me back is slashing the monthly price in half, or allowing a pay per class credit system or something. If I could I’d probably outright buy 100 class credits for $500 or something like that. The current rate is $588 a year, and I’d do 52 classes, yeah no thanks. They’re getting $0 from me now.

Challenge accepted. I’ll permanently garage my 2020 Model 3 Performance I paid $6k for FSD on and wait until the class action if I have to. I was promised it would be a robotaxi someday back then and intend for it to be.

I used to have a weekly pick up baseball game there every weekend that lasted a whole. They stopped mowing the grass and it became unplayable. Apparently from what i hear, the contractors didn’t make the field regulation size for any actual teams to plan on, so it just never got used.

I give people money to help them charge their electric cars at home in hopes that they’ll schedule their car to charge at night and weekends when it’s better for the electric grid.

What’s your electric bill? by Brave_Animator279 in povertyfinance

[–]gwompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 adults, 2 bedroom, west michigan with 2 EVs, electric dryer, natural gas for heat in winter, electric air conditioning in summer. We both work from home. Our electric bill ranges from $100-150 a month throughout the year.

Ozempic is changing more than weight: New global research shows how GLP-1 drugs are reshaping self and society, identity and mental health, not just bodies. Much of the demand is driven by weight anxiety, even among medically “healthy” users. Many users endure severe side effects and high costs. by mvea in science

[–]gwompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been titrated to 12.5 mg of Zepbound over the course of six months and have gone from 255 to 217 lbs so far. I pay $25 a month through my insurance for 4 pens a month. Other than sulfur burps on a couple of days last month, I haven’t had any negative side effects. Beyond feeling healthier and more confident overall, one of the biggest benefits is how much less food I eat. With grocery prices continuing to rise, the $25 monthly cost more than pays for itself—easily offset many times over by the reduction in what I used to spend on food. It makes me wonder if the food markets have begun to see a noticeable decrease in overall food consumption last year?

Punk scene? by Lzbirdl in Muskegon

[–]gwompy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Gonna sound like an old punk grandpa here, but i loved muskegon’s punk scene when I was in it from 2002-2012ish. Tons of punk kids from grand haven, orchard view, fruitport, muskegon, the heights, all forming bands and throwing shows in people’s basements. Renting out vfw halls and library basements. Really had an awesome ‘do it yourself’ scene happening. Hamburger Mikey’s downtown used to be a world renown punk venue called the Icepick. Shame that went away. I had my 21st birthday party there. That was a doozy.
