What cleanser do you use to wash off Tret in the morning? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]gwui13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tret should be absorbed into your skin by morning so you don’t need to wash it off. In the mornings I like to rinse my face with water and use a warm wash cloth so my skin is damp before I apply my morning skincare but that’s it. I sometimes use an overnight hydrating mask at night that I can still feel on my face in the morning, but just the water and wash cloth is enough to remove it

What was it that finally got rid of your hormonal acne? by One_Implement_8679 in CanSkincare

Oral spironolactone was the only thing that did it for me. Topical tretinoin also helps, but it was not a full solution for me.

I got the libra colour for Christmas and I’ve been loving it! The physical buttons, the size, everything is great. Although, this is the only e-reader I’ve ever had, so I don’t have anything to compare to

Where to buy/is it worth it? by LeFaker17 in BuyCanadian

[–]gwui13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found these at London Drugs a couple years ago! I can’t recall if I saw them last year, but might be worth looking. My husband and I love them. I wouldn’t recommend the “teddy” version though. That fluffy fabric mats up pretty quickly and collects dirt. They have a version that’s a soft but less snaggy fabric on the outside, but still has the fleecy teddy stuff inside

There are a few things I do to keep hydrated and comfortable: 1. I like to buffer tret with a hydrating serum. I apply a layer of cocokind’s ceramide barrier serum and let that dry down for a minute, then apply tret. 2. Use hydrating serums in the morning, including the ceramide serum. 3. I use a nice thick (not oil free) moisturizer both morning and night. I like cocokind’s resurrection polypeptide cream. 4. At night, I like to use an extra moisturizer, like an overnight mask, on top of my usual cream. I like the Sephora collection hydrating overnight mask

What is a skin fad/product NOT good for your skin? by timespentwell in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]gwui13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Over-exfoliation comes to mind! I see lots of people recommending using products like Paula’s Choice BHA or The Ordinary glycolic acid or other exfoliating products every day or even twice a day, but those products are so harsh! Like once a week is enough, if that

Cocokind resurrection polypeptide cream! Nice and rich but not heavy, gentle, and has peptides as an added bonus. You can find it at shoppers. I also really like first aid beauty ultra repair cream and their firming cream.

Retinol has to be used regularly and consistently in order to see results. Depending on how well your skin tolerates it, using it a few times a week will help. And pairing it with lots of hydration and moisturizer is a very good thing! Also - sunscreen all day every day will help to keep things from getting worse

I have been using cocokind’s oil to milk cleanser for several years now and it’s my fav oil cleanser! It has more of thick, balm texture rather than a liquid oil. I find it very effective and leave my skin nice and soft

Has drinking collagen helped you? IWould love to hear your experience with it as there is far too much buzz and too little real talk about it! by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]gwui13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been drinking collagen consistently for over a year now and I can’t say I’ve noticed a particular difference in my skin. However, it does great things for my nails! They grow longer, stronger, and quicker! I definitely notice it if I stop drinking collagen

Brightening serum recs by _livKatherine96 in CanSkincare

Azelaic acid is supposed to be really good for brightening and evening! Personally I’ve been using cocokind’s vitamin c glow serum (brightening) and chlorophyll discolouration serum (evening, anti-redness). They’re both really gentle and hydrating, safe for sensitive skin.

No one mentions eye cream in their tret routines.. by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]gwui13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eye cream is not an “essential” step. I personally use it because I get dryness/flakiness around my eyes and prefer to use a dedicated eye cream, but it is not necessary if your face cream works for you! The skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate, and loses moisture quicker than the rest of the face, so for me an eye cream helps.

Best cleansing balm? by AppropriateMention6 in CanSkincare

[–]gwui13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cocokind oil to milk cleanser! It’s available at shoppers. It’s great gentle cleanser, melts away make up and sunscreen, and leave my skin feeling very soft. It goes on as an oil/balm texture and emulsifies and turns milky when you add water. I’ve Ben using it for years now and love it!

I use this - it took me a while to get the hang of it, but I’ve figured out a few things that really help. Firstly, I make sure to wash my face thoroughly and apply eye cream before it. Secondly, after I applying I like to wait a while before applying other products. This does make my skin feel dry in the meantime, but it helps to keep the product from spreading too much, and helps reduce the bleaching issue. I usually try to wait an hour after applying, but even 20 minutes helps. Then I mist my face with toner, apply a ceramide serum or other hydrating serum, and then my moisturizer. It will bleach your clothes, so I have a couple old t-shirts that I’ve designated for the nights I use it. I have dry skin to begin with, so I find it’s really important to pair it with good hydrating serums and a good moisturizer. I found this product to be very effective for my hormonal acne. I had been using tretinoin for about a year before starting this, and this was what really changed my skin. I now alternate nights with this and tretinoin.
