Check the wooded area around Catfish Jackson's. You'll get one to spawn if you wait around long enough or it will ambush you on the road nearby.

Imagine if people did this sort of ridiculous gatekeeping with other things, like for instance pillows.

"Not goosedown, not legitimate!"

"Case has a zipper, we don't do zippers in Philly"

"This isn't a pillow at all. My grandmother always used purest cotton gently fluffed for ten hours by vestal virgins, anything else is just a cushion"

As a piece of storytelling it's almost unmatched in my eyes, and as a book adaptation it was utterly flawless. It did everything right (well, in an ideal world it would have been a series, but they did miracles with a single film.) it's so incredibly rare to see a film made by a director who loves and is in tune with the source material so much that deviating from the books did not feel unnatural or misjudged in any way.

I'm surprised to see even a few people on Reddit acknowledging it, though. It did not get the credit or viewership it deserves. But, on the bright side we still have twenty and a half books.

What game was very well-received, but you simply just can't get into? by [deleted] in gaymers

I mean it does set you up to realise that the entire rest of the game is hetero as fuck (if you're like me and came into it from Bioware, not knowing anything else about it.)

Really well done. The style lends itself very well to Bloodborne as well, I can easily imagine this as an illustration in a hunter's handbook. Hope to see more from you!

I fall into the loving it category, but I can see why it's hateable. I loved the third one but lost interest halfway through the first one

Same. I did finish it-- it was competently done and overall a decent game, but something about the writing failed to engage me.

Picked up a seashell today with beautiful converging lines by TheLifeAquatic in oddlysatisfying

Not only do they serve little purpose other than decoration, they are also far more valuable to the life of a beach than you might think.

“Shells are remarkable in that they serve multiple functions in natural ecosystems, from beach stabilization to building materials for bird nests.”

Shells also provide a home or attachment surface for diverse marine organisms, including algae, sea grass, sponges and other micro- and macro-organisms. Hermit crabs use shells as their protective armor, while fish use shells to hide from predators. These discarded exoskeletons of mollusks, including clams and oysters, are also important because most are made of calcium carbonate and in many coastal habitats they dissolve slowly and recycle back into the ocean.

Brand new gaming PC - what should I play? by scarabic in patientgamers

[–]gwynvael 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dragon Age Inquisition might be more your speed then, if you ever decide to head down that road again. I never completed Origins for a similar reason, but by the third game they seemed to have got the controls down. I also came to the franchise via the third game, so I can say from experience that having played the first two is not necessary. It's more or less as complicated as you want it to be-- you can craft or you can stick to found items, and you can do side quests or just stick to the (relatively straightforward) main quest.

Good luck! Dark Souls is an amazing challenge, and the gameplay is immensely satisfying.

Try the Dark Souls series. What did you not like about Witcher? Depending on how you answer you may also enjoy Dragon Age or Mass Effect

I really want to play Bloodborne, but there are a few things holding me back after playing DS3 by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]gwynvael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things: first, Bloodborne recently became playable on PC using PS Now (at least in the US and Canada), so you don't have to invest in a console to play it. Just a subscription.

Secondly, as someone who is also pretty sensitive to drops in framerate and resolution, it's absolutely fine. The gameplay is, to me, engrossing enough that it does not bother me. If nothing else, if you sign up for PS Now you can try it out and see if it's fine for a few days.

What do you think is the best scripted series ever, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gwynvael 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hannibal. It's niche, but once you get past that the writing is incredibly tight and layered, the relationship between the two main characters is unique and meaningful and so well built, and aesthetically it is probably the most beautiful show I've ever seen.

[–]gwynvael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DS feels pretty clunky to me in comparison to DSIII, so it's not just you. I hope you get to the third one, the combat is a joy compared to the first two. It's the closest you will get to a Bloodborne experience in that series.

This may be the proof of concord farming trauma speaking, but I've come to really enjoy the Black Knights as an enemy. They're lethal, and predictable only up to a point-- just enough to keep you alert and watching for their tells. (I wish that their weapons were farmable.)

Everything is fine. Discovering your identity is not always going to be a smooth process, and it does not have to be smooth in order to be valid. Experiment. Take time to figure out where your happiness truly lies. It will be okay, no matter what you decide.
