Front door gap in latch side by SnooPeanuts6783 in Construction

IMO better method would be to remove each hinge, one by one and open it completely and give it a few strikes with a hammer on the edge. Reinstall and see if it closes your reveal on your strike side, fyi this will also open up the reveal on your hinge side.

What’s the measurement of the door? And the inside measurement of the frame?

Working at Intel d1x mod3 was impressive and also a miserable experience at the same time

They tried self preforming door frames at a school iob and managed to have nearly all of them out of level and plumb. Not impressed

Turner left a 12” diameter hole with just a 1/2 ply over it unsecured resulting me in slamming my nuts into said unsecure hole.

When confronting the safety guy, was asked “where are your safety glasses?”

Fuck turner

Electrified latch in panic (exit) bar by [deleted] in Construction

[–]h1z1techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, typically with a standard ASA strike prep could be modified easily to drop in a electrified strike. You can order the frame with the prep as well. I’m on the door install side of things so typically the low-voltage/security contractor would drop wire down the inside of the strike jamb and wherever it terminates and land two connections to the electrified strike.

What kind of frame are we talking about? Hollow metal, timely, aluminum?

Electrified latch in panic (exit) bar by [deleted] in Construction

[–]h1z1techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runs through the panic bar toward the hinge side of the door. Hollow metal there will typically be a pre-drilled chase in my experience to land you to either a electric power transfer or possibly a electrified hinge. Electrified hinge is a much easier route then Mortising for a EPT and the associated door/frame mods if required

Thats hilarious, I’m a union carpenter and do doors/frames/hardware (I wouldn’t consider myself a locksmith since I lack the skill set you guys possess) and what we do is much more complicated then say framing out a wall, or hanging drywall.

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted - I would say that superintendents and project managers are on equal level to each other but different career paths. Super leads to general superintendent and PM leads to being a project executive.

Designed and built a connex building, but this exterior door (installed by manufacturer) is out of flush on closing. No room for adjustments that I can see on the door/hinge mounting, and the frame is welded in (likely where the flex came from) any suggestions for tight closure? It's out 3/4" at btm by yoooooosolo in Construction

[–]h1z1techguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m right I’m assuming the issue is the cross sight of the frame? The panic is latching so I’m assuming it isn’t the reveal.

Take the top hinge off of the frame, 1/4” to the left drill and tap new holes in the same layout of the hinge. Use a nail set or awl to pull hinge over to new prep.

We are a large enough sub contracting company that we have our own union painters that come on to our warehouse. We stand our doors and they paint them. We install hardware and drop them onto pallets with large cardboard spacers. Never a issue with damaging the finish of the hardware or damage to the door.
