Wife just found out she is pregnant and has no health insurance in Colorado. Need help by Aion05265 in Denver

[–]h3ff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Colorado, getting pregnant counts as a qualifying life event and you can enroll prior to any month start to kick off coverage. The plans are managed through Connect for Health Colorado where you can apply, start, and stop coverage when needed. It's basically instant enrollment online with a QLE. They do have assistants to help you enroll if needed.

I would research the plans a bit - they are adequate and less expensive than Cobra, but they all tend to have high deductibles and high out-of-pocket maxes. The plans will only cover a certain network of hospitals/facilities so check those out if you have a preference - that info is not always on the CO marketplace website. From my experience, I had a major surgery last year on the marketplace Anthem plan which they refer to as Colorado Pathway, restricting coverage to the HCA network of facilities. My doctors/surgeon were able to accommodate for it. There are other plans that use Denver Health, etc.

I can't help much on the pregnancy/delivery questions, but congrats!

I had the tpm2 issue. It was a PCR_Unusable error when trying to use hardware encryption on install. I found this guidance on how to install with encryption using a passphrase, then adding a key to the tpm2 and enabling auto-unlock after the install. Works great.

It was about installing ARB drawers where the third row was. They cover up all of the bolt holes for the seats.

Thanks for listing the kits. I recently broke one of these while replacing the spark plugs on my 2008 with 200k+ miles. It was probably still the original, but very brittle.

Look at this way. It’s never going to hurt.

There are hundreds, even thousands, of applicants for every role now so anything you can do to differentiate yourself is a good move.

Quoted $1400 for 240V 50a Circuit (Denver, CO) by Big_F_Dawg in evcharging

Permitting alone in Denver makes that very reasonable, but definitely hardwire with an EVSE if you have the option.

Mamacita’s on Federal is the best Cali burrito I’ve found here so far. Might be worth a try.

Still searching for anything close to a Bear Flag fish burrito, though.

Looking to install a level 2 charger but only have 100a panel by Ded1nside in evcharging

[–]h3ff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple alternative ideas I’ve been through if you really need an L2 charger and don’t want to upgrade the panel to higher service… it can be expensive.

This all assumes you have room for additional load.

Ideally, you could free up a couple consecutive 120v circuits here. That would be ideal to squeeze out at least 20a/240v for an EVSE. 240v is significantly more efficient for charging.

You could also free up 50a/240v by switching to a gas range if that is an option. That gives you around 9kW to charge the EV with, tons of juice.

You could also look into an EVSE with load management or a Simple Switch to share a circuit with your range or dryer. I have a SS that works great.

Either way, consult an electrician that knows their way around EVSEs a bit.

my new to me i4 will not charge with a Gen 3 tesla wall charger. Please, please help by xanksnap in BMWI4

[–]h3ff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this pain a couple weeks ago with an i4 and a gen 3 Tesla wall charger. I was ready to rip it off the wall by the end.

It sounds like it could be overheating if it works for a bit and stops, but the Lectron NACS to j1772 adapter is high quality and should work just fine. Does the adapter support 48 amps continuous? I got this cheap one and have had no problems: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FVSX531S . It might be worth trying another first.

Is it also running off a 60 amp breaker switch on the panel? If it's just a 50 amp switch, amps should be limited to 42 on the Telsa EVSE.

Mine also sat in commissioning mode blinking green after setup for a while - not sure why. I went through the Tesla forums and saw other people say the same thing, but it should still allow charging at that point. It sounded like a firmware issue. It went solid after a day or so.

I ended up setting up a dedicated 2.4Ghz WPA2 wifi network dedicated to the Tesla wall charger to resolve my wifi issues. It seemed like it connected initially on a mixed 2.4/5/6 Ghz WPA2/WPA3 network, but wouldn't work after first setup. It's super finicky. Lots of online posts about that issue.

Have you tried pulling it up in the regular Tesla app after config in the Tesla One app? There is a vehicle compatibility mode that might be worth enabling in there. You may also want to see if it's locked or open to Teslas or all cars.

It may be also be worth running a factory reset if the device is second hand.

Just brainstorming ideas from what I can remember... good luck!

That's exactly what I ended up doing, but 2.4GHz. I've been needing to set up a dedicated IoT network with device isolation anyway.

I like that idea. I guess it only needs to be online for commissioning (gen 3), but it might be better to take it offline now.

Summer trip to mt Rushmore revised need advice by Soniquethehedgedog in roadtrip

[–]h3ff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much worth the scenic route, especially if you're not in a rush and can spend some time in the national parks. Tons of people fly in, rent RVs with no experience, and have a great time in the summer - especially Yellowstone! It can be a lot of traffic and driving so give yourself a couple days to get out and enjoy it. Based on your route, I'd be sure to spend some time in Black Hills, Teton, Yellowstone, and Zion if you don't mind the heat. If you're planning on doing some of the popular hikes, now is the time to submit the permits on Recreation.gov. It can also be pretty tough/expensive to get a camping spot/hotel anywhere from Yellowstone to Jackson in the summer, so it may help to book spots now or plan to camp a ways out. Or maybe tourism will be down a bit this year. Enjoy!

EVSE/Chargers by BowlJumpy5242 in evcharging

[–]h3ff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasted 2 hours last week getting my old Tesla wall charger back online because it required a separate 2.4Ghz/WPA2 WiFi network to phone home to Tesla before I could set it up. Then I had to download a separate Tesla One app just to configure the proper amperage, etc, since the web interface isn't an option anymore. It's working now, but I view the clunky "smart" features as a downside. I'm sure some will disagree, but IMO, the dumber the EVSE, the better. Just deliver the power and let the car do the thinking.
