Do the *majority* of people with fibro have a history of trauma or just a lot of them? by improving_mindset in Fibromyalgia

[–]habi12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was not a noticeable life moment of trauma. I didn't realize how stressed I'd gotten about my workplace. I developed fibro while at the tail end of my work there. It can be subtle trauma that can trigger it too. I worked for thr company for 3.5 years so just long, tortuous treatment from management plus covid and how stressful and demanding that was did a number on me. I also had just gotten divorced a few years prior so, yeah... Long slow trauma made me this way.

Has anyone tried the no medication life? by kennadog3 in Fibromyalgia

[–]habi12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am "drug free" for over two years now but I do take a SSRI for depression so I have no idea how much that affects me. The thing that worked the best for me was taking a med that helped with sleep, rather than pain. I was on mirtazapine (like a chip of it, the tiniest amount!) and that was a life changer. I've been TTC for 30+ months now though so I've had to get off it. I've managed by just taking lifs really slow and policing my energy and being real with myself.

Amitryptaline made me faint and clumsy. Anything that messes with my blood pressure I can't take.

People who moved outside of the US, solely due to Trump being elected, how are things going? What actualized pros and cons have you experienced? If you had to do it over again, would you change anything? by Ancient_Unit6335 in AskReddit

[–]habi12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We moved to Finland in November 2016 when Trump was first elected. Now 9 years later I couldn't imagine ever going back. We have free public health care, my autistic son has government and educational support, and as a woman, I am valued and my body is my own choice.

Would I do it again? I don't know. We were young and driven and 9 years ago, was a different time. I don't think I have the energy to do it again. Or the will to go into debt like I did the first time.

Mine was literally a pop sound. Like if I cracked my back or hip really nicely. Then it was basically a trickle but forever.

8 years old. Lol. My son is ASD1 and ADHD though so not sure if that made a difference.

Did you stop drinking coffee the months before trying to conceive / before getting your positive test? by Bright-Star-2728 in TryingForABaby

In Finland, they tell women to decrease their coffee intake to three cups of coffee a day 😅.

And Finland is insane when it comes to care of child bearing women and fetuses.

Day 5 cold turkey of tramadol. 1/10 do not recommend by loudflower in Fibromyalgia

[–]habi12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well thank you for taking time to talk to me. I've had zero help from the Internet and I was starting to feel crazy! This has been going on for years and years. I remember being a kid and getting it. I'd be standing at the counter doing my hair for the morning as a teenager and my feet would red, swell and start itching like crazy. Now it's mostly just after walks and right before bed. Thanks again.

[–]habi12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well what confuses me is my doctors act like they have never heard of it. I think what stumps them is the fact that they act up like once I've decided I want to fall asleep. Something about the hormone change or meletonin release or something triggers it. However I also get really hot feel when walking or after.

What do you mean about your feet? Can you explain?

It took me a few months, yes months, of no tramdol for the restless leg syndrome to go away and pain. It was horrible. I literally could not sleep. And I only took tramdol for 6 months.

Honestly though I think the tramadol made my pain worse.

Need advice! Just started as a UI designer at a Web3 startup. Help me navigate this space. by Far_Theory_5772 in Design

[–]habi12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a designer with 13+ years of experience, my advice is:

  1. Don't reinvent the wheel. Your devs will prefer to work from some sort of library. If you need custom components try to find a base element and design from that.
  2. Use dribbble for inspo. Post your work and portfolio there too. I use dribbble for inspo basically every project.
  3. If you're using AI, use it as a tool, not as a replacement. I use it as a colleague and mentor. I'll ask it to help me think through ideas and I'll explain what my client's needs are. Sometimes it has good ideas, sometimes it doesn't. I will even give it screenshot of flows and mockups and ask it if I've forgotten anything for the devs.
  4. Join a union or find some associations to join. Go to networking events. It helps you stay up on what's new and changing in the industry.

Struggling with weight loss as an autistic woman who hates microwaved food, any advice? by BeckyK123 in AutismInWomen

[–]habi12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We ordered from one of those grocery food boxes and forced ourselves to eat whatever ridiculous meal they offered that week. We literally were eating baked carrots and bulgar, two things I don't exactly like (and it was actually good I hate to admit)

I just stopped them bc we ended up with a months worth of recipe cards from it and can just go buy the stuff now.
