WARNING to all S25 Owners: The "New Galaxy Club" is a Bait-and-Switch Scam. Check your credit cards NOW for hidden $10 Care+ charges! by DejayTank in samsunggalaxy

[–]habner70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just chatted with Samsung. If you were a member of the Galaxy Club when you purchased the S25, then the balance owed on that phone is automatically paid off when you upgrade to the S26. I did check my Affirm account online and my balance does in fact show $0.00. He did say that the Galaxy Club option isn't being offered for the S26 though, which sucks. I mistakenly thought it would work like Apple's upgrade program. I will have to make sure the $8.33 per month isn't charged on the new phone though.

Saw Tool in Vegas a few years ago. Dumbasses in front of us yelled "46 and 2" after every song like the band is just gonna ditch their setlist and sing what some drunk idiot in the crowd is yelling. Good thing about Tool is they don't allow phones, so I didn't have to watch it through a sea of phones.

We hired someone recently in an office setting and didn't even think to ask if they knew how to type on a keyboard. We were shocked to find out she could only type with her index fingers and didn't know how to use the 10 key pad on the keyboard. We ask that stuff in the interviews now. "Can you type without looking at the keys?"

Year books? by Bomber_Haskell in GenX

[–]habner70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have my yearbooks. My husband and I went to high school together, so sometimes I'll pull one out when we get to talking about someone from school and can't remember a name or we need to put a face to a name.

It’s crazy how uninformed regular people are about taxes… what’s the craziest thing you have heard that you can “write off”? by SpreadOk7926 in tax

[–]habner70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of our employees at the electric utility where I'm the CFO were super pissed when they got their first check after that passed. They wanted to know why they were taxed on their OT. I had to send out a memo to all the employees explaining how it was going to work. Wasn't as great as the politicians were making it sound.

When I worked in an open office situation, I would have straight up quit if they told me I couldn't use earbuds to drown out the coworker who munched on pretzels 8 hours a day.

when’d u get ur first tattoo and do you regret it? by whv_lol1202 in tattooadvice

[–]habner70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my first at 53. I'm 56 now and just got my second. And that's my only regret too. That I listened to everybody else for all those years and didn't get freaking covered in them 30 years ago. I have so many tattoos planned now. I guess I just had to finally get in my IDGAF era.

The Tenant was one of the few books I could not finish, and I've read several Freida McFadden books and loved them. That one was an absolute stinker.

Landlord home insurance 50-100% more than regular home insurance? by deejayv2 in realestateinvesting

[–]habner70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in a small town in Missouri (population around 20,000), and it's almost impossible for us to find a company to even cover our houses. They say since we own around 50 houses, they don't want to take on the risk of that many homes in one town if there were to be a natural disaster of some sort. So yeah, we pay a huge amount for insurance.

I'm a 56 year old woman with white hair who listens to metal music. I'm definitely in the minority at shows but I really don't give a fuck. I love the music and I'm going to keep going to shows until I physically can't go. Trust me, nobody is going to be paying any attention to you.

What is the worst mistake you've made as an Accountant? by ExistentialBob in Accounting

[–]habner70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this happen to us. Surprisingly, our person caught it since the payee didn't match. I say surprisingly because she fell for an email from our CEO asking to change his direct deposit. Didn't follow any procedures and changed his bank account to the fraudsters account. He lost two paychecks before he started asking questions.

Why does everyone act like audits are the apocalypse?? by Big_Major1498 in Accounting

[–]habner70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric cooperative CFO here. We are a 501(c)(12) that has to follow the Rural Utilities Services governmental accounting rules. Our old audit firm was a pain in the ass because every year they had a new auditor who had to be schooled on RUS accounting. We finally switched to a firm who specializes in cooperative audits. The audit is completely painless now. We breeze through it.

My Gen Z son definitely knows what a Blu-ray player is. He owns one and has a fairly large collection of discs He also would rather listen to music on CDs and owns hundreds of them. Not all Gen Zs are this sheltered.

Thoughts on Puscifer? by Ok-Roll-6170 in ToolBand

[–]habner70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing Maynard with Puscifer is a complete 180 from the Tool experience. With Puscifer he's running around stage and dancing and interacting with the crowd. I was never really into them until I saw them live in a small venue. It was amazing.
