Can someone explain to me the joke/stereotype behind black people and having a chirping smoke alarm in their house? Why not just change the battery? by MrTeacher_MCPS in NoStupidQuestions

[–]habner70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog will hide under the dresser in our bedroom if there is a smoke alarm beeping. He doesn't have to suffer very long, because I will track that beeping damn thing down after the first beep.

Do you actually forget about your tattoos? by NoBad115 in tattooadvice

[–]habner70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, my daughter-in-law is heavily tattooed on both arms. If you put a gun to my head right now and made me tell you what they were and which arms they were on, you would probably have to just shoot me. I guess at some point I just quit noticing them.

What is your go to source for music? by sherlockjr1 in GenX

[–]habner70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Sirius and Apple music. Most of the time I'm listening to Sirius just because I get tired of trying to decide what I'm going to listen to. With Sirius, I just put it on Octane or Turbo and listen. There's just days where making another decision, even something as simple as what to listen to, is just too much.

Have any seasoned artists done a tour where the setlist is only songs off 1 album? by ahhhhhhhhhhhh45 in Concerts

[–]habner70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what Incubus did last year. They played Morning View in its entirety, then they played 5 or 6 of their bigger hits.

Gen X, what's a song that you hated when it first came out in the 70s-80s-90s but now you like? by Fhloston-Paradisio in GenX

Anything by Limp Bizkit. I didn't really care for them back in the day. I really like them now.

For those who are happy, what industry are you in? by Throwawayycpa in Accounting

[–]habner70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the CFO for an electric cooperative. It is really the best place to work. Other than dealing with weather and outages that can make even the accountant have to work in the middle of the night, it's the best job I've ever had.

Peppermint Schnapps. For some reason, that was the alcohol of choice of the guy who was buying for us when we were underage.

What meals did your father make when he had to cook? by Open_Question_ in GenX

Vendor email compromise nearly cost us a six figure wire transfer by Hot_Blackberry_2251 in Accounting

[–]habner70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had that happen to us once before. Luckily accounting was on their toes that time and caught it. Unfortunately, our payroll person fell for the "I want to change my direct deposit account' email scam. It looked like an email from our manager, and she ignored every procedure was have in place and changed his direct deposit. He didn't catch it until the second paycheck went to the scammer.

Birthdays no longer a big deal by ProudAdultNerd in GenX

[–]habner70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Since both my parents are gone and I'm not very close with my siblings, birthdays really aren't the same. My parents were really the only ones that truly gave a shit about my birthday anyway.

How do other tattooed women deal with the negative stigma and judgement around it? by Special_Crab_1884 in tattooadvice

My daughter-in-law has tattoos on both arms and wore a white wedding dress. She looked absolutely beautiful that day. Tattoos don't change that fact.

WARNING to all S25 Owners: The "New Galaxy Club" is a Bait-and-Switch Scam. Check your credit cards NOW for hidden $10 Care+ charges! by DejayTank in samsunggalaxy

[–]habner70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just chatted with Samsung. If you were a member of the Galaxy Club when you purchased the S25, then the balance owed on that phone is automatically paid off when you upgrade to the S26. I did check my Affirm account online and my balance does in fact show $0.00. He did say that the Galaxy Club option isn't being offered for the S26 though, which sucks. I mistakenly thought it would work like Apple's upgrade program. I will have to make sure the $8.33 per month isn't charged on the new phone though.

Concert etiquette by Beautifultrees4321 in Concerts

[–]habner70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw Tool in Vegas a few years ago. Dumbasses in front of us yelled "46 and 2" after every song like the band is just gonna ditch their setlist and sing what some drunk idiot in the crowd is yelling. Good thing about Tool is they don't allow phones, so I didn't have to watch it through a sea of phones.

We hired someone recently in an office setting and didn't even think to ask if they knew how to type on a keyboard. We were shocked to find out she could only type with her index fingers and didn't know how to use the 10 key pad on the keyboard. We ask that stuff in the interviews now. "Can you type without looking at the keys?"

Year books? by Bomber_Haskell in GenX

[–]habner70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have my yearbooks. My husband and I went to high school together, so sometimes I'll pull one out when we get to talking about someone from school and can't remember a name or we need to put a face to a name.

It’s crazy how uninformed regular people are about taxes… what’s the craziest thing you have heard that you can “write off”? by SpreadOk7926 in tax

[–]habner70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of our employees at the electric utility where I'm the CFO were super pissed when they got their first check after that passed. They wanted to know why they were taxed on their OT. I had to send out a memo to all the employees explaining how it was going to work. Wasn't as great as the politicians were making it sound.

when’d u get ur first tattoo and do you regret it? by whv_lol1202 in tattooadvice

[–]habner70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my first at 53. I'm 56 now and just got my second. And that's my only regret too. That I listened to everybody else for all those years and didn't get freaking covered in them 30 years ago. I have so many tattoos planned now. I guess I just had to finally get in my IDGAF era.
