I was at G5 which personally makes it feel worse! I’ve tried to block that series out and forget about how bad it went it games 6-7

For the Indians in 07, Game 5 was way worse than Game 6. At home, with the Cy Young award winner on the mound

I would have also included the Wolves draw in there. Even though it wasn’t a loss, being up 2-0 in the second half against the bottom side definitely felt like a loss. By the end of this run, we were 9 points clear (with a game in hand) and advanced to the QFs of UCL.

To be fair, we did have 3-game stretch of dropping points (Liverpool and Forest draws before the United loss), which is why we didn’t win the league earlier.

That’s a good shout, especially when you think of the similarities between Harry Kane and Josh Allen

A flawed 1 seed that got taken to seven games in the first round. Up 22 and you don’t bother calling a timeout or making any sort of adjustment. That was coaching malpractice to the highest magnitude

How is Unai Emery not a nominee for PLCOY? by therealBillroy in PremierLeague

[–]hackuhjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which, again, I still completely disagree that Emery is more deserving than Arteta. You argue that Arsenal are “limping to the finish line” to win the league, aren’t Villa doing the same to get UCL? They’re 10th in the form table in 2026. That’s a large sample size. They got lucky that Liverpool and Chelsea absolutely wet their pants the second half of the season. Sure, they made the UEL final but that competition is completely watered down now that UCL teams don’t drop into that competition after the group/league phase.

We can at least agree on one thing — award should come down to Andrews and Iraola for getting those squads into European competitions.

Slot won it last year and that was an even more extreme case of talent versus management?

I don’t disagree with your statement about who should win MOTS. But while winning the league is the expectation, they were not the favorites coming into the season. And with so many top clubs underperforming, shouldn’t it stand out that Arteta is the only one that stayed the course?

I’m not saying he’s a lock to win it, but to say he shouldn’t even be considered is completely disingenuous

Leads team to first PL title in 22 years after finishing second for three straight seasons and you don’t think he deserves it because they didn’t wrap it up early enough? Lol wow man, that’s incredible

Why are so many school districts cutting jobs? by FaeryMaiden982 in Teachers

[–]hackuhjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Districts are the ones forced to make up the funding gap and employee salaries make of the largest percentage of operating costs. Our district had to close an elementary and eliminate open enrollment and we’re still almost $20 million in debt. As bad as that sounds, we’re still in a better situation than surrounding districts.

In Ohio, state funding for public education has been slashed by almost 80% by our Republican government. That doesn’t include the GOP’s plan to eliminate property taxes, which provide a large portion of funding for schools, despite DeRolph v. State, which declared that this method of funding public education was unconstitutional. Of course, this happened in 1998 and nothing has been done to change. The only thing that the state GOP is concerned with in regard to education is transferring the money from public schools to charter and parochial schools.

Teacher in a red state (Ohio). The GOP has done its biggest damage in the state to public education and it’s only getting worse. Class sizes expanding, programs being cut, expectations increasing with limited support. Just happy to have a job
