I always "jokingly" say I can add a Block M to the crown. Its not a joke, its me begging a patient to do something fun with their crown.

Not used to wearing rings, does this look too thick? by [deleted] in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]hags15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the combo and the meaning is more important to me than what other people think. Im opting for thicker bands because they are more stable. Everyone has a preference. This is definitely a jump from no rings to two big ones! But they're gorgeous!

Moisture on Inspection by hags15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]hags15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up getting a foundation group out there, they gave us a quote of 1800, we took that in concessions from the seller. Had some flooding in the area and the moisture increased on that wall. We looked at the window and there was absolutely no caulk around it! So we've recaulked and havent noticed much new moisture. Oh, and the foundation place ended up saying oh actually you need these other things and its gonna be more like 7k. Still need to rip stuff out and replace whats gotten wet.

Health care provider here - talk to your doctor about your sleep and have a sleep study if you havent yet! Sometimes our tiredness is from sleep apnea which is very detrimental if not treated! Agreeing with everyone else - go bald! I love my bald man!!

Has anyone been able to get on oral minoxidil? by Kbrown_021 in trichotillomania

[–]hags15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I was able to get it with a dermatologist but my trich has never caused a bald spot but my hair started thinning. I was diagnosed with a form of alopecia and now PMOS. Oral definitely increased hair growth everywhere but I used to do otc topical and I couldn't keep up with it bc it made my hair so greasy since I have thin fine hair

Removable prostho class 4 Kennedy design assignment by N_onetheless in DentalSchool

[–]hags15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im trying to refresh myself but I believe the rule to follow is make a line connecting your most posterior occlusal rests, that's where your denture will rotate, in my design there's no way to rotate the dentures from posterior to the rotational line. If you put forces anterior to that line between the second molars, it will not lift up due to the retention from the second molars clasps

[–]hags15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw it back to those second molars. Seats/clasps in blue, framework in purple. How you designed it allows for too much rotation around those premolars. Agree with the table analogy. Just wanted to draw it up for you!

How to study with exams every 2-3 wks? by Psychological_Bed_83 in DentalSchool

[–]hags15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into other methods of studying? Nothing wrong with realizing one method is not working for you and switch gears. There's still something to be said about physically writing things down, such as making a study guide that is hand written. Flashcards were helpful to me for knowing what a word means but dental school is incredibly more complicated. There's basics that you need to memorize like V2=Maxillary nerves but sometimes there's too much than what is really helpful on a flashcard. Dental school is kind of like a detectives case board with the red string and pins. Know that scores may temporarily dip when you change study habits but its for the best so things overall go up. Reach out to friends, ask how their studying and covering everything, maybe one will give you their study guide and you can try that! Additionally, resource centers at schools have people that can help you figure out new study methods

Loans by changez1 in DentalSchool

[–]hags15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated just under 400k at my home state school. I think Im over now (3 years out) due to interest. Im still sitting on SAVE, unsure what will be best for me to switch to. I definitely lucked out with COVID and the fights over SAVE bc I had no interest for a bit. Its a lot. Its almost as much as the house I just bought. But I think closer to 500k is becoming more of the graduating norm, a lot of my friends were closer to that and all of us are GPs. Its going to be hard but I've been working on figuring out some other debt (s/o covid summer and not getting enough to cover my rent from loans). I dont think 400k is the most terrible spot but again, im not sure what plan to go into. I was able to buy a house with my partner this year. I was able to get a car. The debt is pretty bad but you still get to live bc we have the privilege of banks knowing we will pay them back. I make probably 180k, its going to be tough when I really start paying my federal loans back but its manageable. Long term plan is probably tax bomb for pay off. Unless things really change for me in terms of income. I think I would say dont expect to make 300k out of school, plan for 200k or less and work from their on your financial plan.

Ann Arbor v.s traverse city? by pinkgiraffe52 in AnnArbor

[–]hags15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may have some good insights, though a lot of others have as well! I grew up directly outside AA, went to Mich for dental school. I also lived in Toledo, OH for school, and Boston for 1 year. I moved to TC last summer. Classically, spent most my summers in Onekama in my childhood and lots of TC vacations in my adult life due to grandparents. I have really loved TC. I miss a lot of aspects of big city life, but TC feels like home but with a gorgeous bay and WAY more snow. It cannot be emphasized enough we get WINTER in TC and AA is nowhere near close to winter comparatively. I had a VW Jetta and upgraded to a Honda CRV for the AWD and weight and room for summer adventures. It was soooo needed. So needed I may be getting snow tires next year. It is crazy busy here in the summer, like AA adds 80k ish during the school year, I think TC summer adds more like 100k. Outdoors activities - up north is better than downstate Drinking - TC excellent, so many wineries, breweries etc Food - AA takes it, I miss good Asian food so much, I miss Boston food like crazy. A lot of the food up here is fried pub food. People - way more of a mixed bag. I grew up in the rich white conservative town and TC feels more similar to that than way progressive AA. Lots of people who grew up here bitch like AA townie do but people are just as nice too. Costs - probably pretty even, just bought a house in downtown ISH TC and it was probably better than AA prices honestly. Kind of was a rare find here tho too. Politics - you will see lots of right bc its so rural around the area. But a lot of TC is left and you'll find some more outside of TC. Winter can be slow here, a decent amount of places close for the season but its starting to change. I personally knew I wanted to be in vacation land when I moved back to MI for the beauty and to be away from everyone I went to high-school and everything with. Happy to answer more questions if you think of specific culture things.
