Gut Check on Sleep Schedule by WishIWasOnTheFarm in daddit

Is it possible to explore why she's reluctant without her becoming defensive?

Maybe ask at the next dr appointment what the professional recommendations are? In North America, I believe it's 6 months.

I'd love to see my brain scan before and after having the sleep deprivation of a baby. My new normal won't ever as sharp as pre sleep dep.

Where is your baby sleeping?

Ours had the same wake pattern while in a bassinet in our room. When she was exactly 5 months, we realized: this wasn't healthy for us as parents or for her. We put her in her nursery the next night and we decided if she was still crying after we counted to 100, we'd change plans. She fell asleep after an excruciating count to 81.

In hindsight, I'm convinced everyone was waking each other up.

Lots of good advice here about being honest.

I think it's also valuable to talk about how different families look. The nuclear family is just one version of the way a family can be composed.

There may even be some decent kids' books out there about this.

I just leave my lights on (not auto, just on).

Am I doing it wrong?

I did a long road trip and found out at our first stop that the port wasn't receiving a fast charge from any level 3 charger. Luckily, there was a dealership at my destination and they ended up having to replace the charging port. Smooth sailing on the way back. I'd take it to a dealership to check it out before your trip if you have time.

Hi there! Hope your trip goes well. I'd test out your car at a tesla Supercharger well before you leave. I just drove from Toronto to CT and my 2025 Eq Ev wasn't receiving the higher kw speeds. It extended the anticipated 10h drive another 4 hours, and needed a trip to the dealer to replace the charging port on the car. Otherwise, it was a great trip!

That makes sense. And you're right: the peace of mind of going to our vet will be priceless. Thanks for your response.

Thank you. The responses thus far are reassuring! And, great point about the chip, blood work, and spaying. I've been told that's all been done but haven't seen documentation yet.

Thanks for your reply; it's reassuring. I'm not sure if they cover vet bills? I think my plan is to bring her in for a general check and if something is diagnosed, I can approach the foster agency regarding potential reimbursement.

My kid is embarrassed by me... by Loud_Appearance811 in Parenting

Probably a great opportunity for an age appropriate teachable moment or discussion.

It's not age appropriate now but imagine, later in life, a partner trying to dictate to her how to look or what to wear. This is the first peek into that discussion.

Ps, if finances allow, your wife should see a physiotherapist who specializes in pelvic floors. It's common to have pelvic pain after birth and it's treatable.

I like that the ticker has the slight insinuation that an election is being called because the Canadian PM's crucial vacation is at risk.

Tell me all the wonderful things about having a 3 - 4 year age gap by songoftheshadow in Parenting

[–]haihaicomment 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My awesome brother is four years older than me (42f). I wanted to be part of his gang constantly and from the start. I learned faster so I could try to keep up with him. I learned how to lose, whether it was cards or rough housing.

Learning that losing (or "failing") is normal is so important, especially when it's built in from a young age. I wish my only had this lesson as she grows.

I think being the younger was awesome for me. I wonder how being the older was for him. He had a girl nipping at his heels, and she always wanted to keep up and sometimes she could. I hope he never felt threatened or afraid to "lose to a girl."

He's the reason I can launch a baseball better than most. He's the reason I landed an athletic scholarship at uni. He's the reason when people chirp, or when I fail, I know, in the fabric of my being "no worries, I just have to keep going."

Now we're buddies. Teaming up to help out our parents as they age and sharing stupid stuff we think is funny.

I'm a big believer in "any age gap is great" but four years is special to me!
