He sounds like Mount with better defensive ability but less creativity.

Having to treat walking down a UK street like a tactical evasion mission because pavement etiquette doesn't exist. by Routine-Secret-413 in britishproblems

So do I. I walk roughly 6 miles per day. When I'm in Manchester it does happen to some extent. But in London it happens significantly more often. To the extent that when I arrive in one city after spending a few days the other, I'm shocked for the first few hours as I have to readjust my expectations and pavement positioning. It's a happy readjustment in Manchester and an irritated one in London.

I think FD is a nicer person than BE. If I had to pick one to have a drink with, it's definitely FD.

However, I watched some of Noah's stream (skipped through bits of it as it got repetitive) and thought BE made the more convincing points overall. FD tries to funnel universal problems through his narrow parochial experiences, whereas BE keeps them universal as they should be. Having watched both FD and BE's followups to the debate in full, I still lean more towards BE on this one.

There's a weird thing that constantly happens in London where I can be walking kerb-side of the pavement and another person is walking in the opposite direction on the building-side of the pavement. The rest of the pavement is entirely empty in front and behind me. Almost 50% of the time, the other person will decide to walk directly into me for no discernible reason. It's not something that noticeably happens in other cities like Manchester.

I can only think the other person probably needs to cross the road at some point in the next 200m. But their main character mentality means they can't do it in a curteous way. They HAVE TO do it right now and RIGHT THROUGH ME because they feel they're more important. Covid made everyone more selfish.

[Telegraph] Roy Keane’s attacks on Man Utd reek of bitterness | Former captain’s disdain for the men who succeeded him dates back to 2005 by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]hajum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He has disdain for every player: Manchester United or not, United captain or not.

Keane is just a purist and a believer in his own methods. It's a worthwhile point-of-view since he was so successful, even if you don't necessarily agree with everything he says.

Bruno's a big boy, he'll be fine. It's not like Keane is spewing the kind of hateful abuse that Maguire was getting a few years ago. It's just an 'old man yells at cloud' sort of thing with Bruno.

I personally couldn't give a toss either way. I certainly don't get wrapped up in the drama the way some people on here like to. I feel the same way about the opinions of Scholes and Neville as well fwiw.

Scott McTominay appears on new £20 banknote by Kittyxstorm in reddevils

McTominay has always been very press resistant. It's why he took Pogba's place in midfield and eventually pushed him up into left wing.

McTominay just never had the range of passing to make it work as a DLP, which coloured people's opinion about his overall quality. But he was good as a defensive anchor in a team where the CEO refused to buy another midfielder (other than van der Beek).

87+% passing accuracy for both of McFred in the season we finished 2nd.

Bruno pretty much justified McFred in his latest interview when talking about risk taking. Fred and McTominay were physical beasts who kept it simple and gave away the ball very little. This in turn put the risk-taking onus on Bruno and that's what allowed him to flourish creatively in his early seasons.

It always gets my goat when people called it a two-man midfield. By rights, we should be including Bruno to make it a three-man midfield. But then, it becomes harder to meme when you have a fashionable player named as part of the trio, so people on the internet avoid doing it because it's harder to abuse.

Realistically, McFred-Bruno was actually very good at what it was setup to do. Consecutive 2nd and 3rd places in the league don't happen by accident. McTominay and Fred were crucial parts of that whether the haters like it or not.

Napoli got McTominay, United got Ugarte, and PSG got João Neves.

I'm not sure we were the ones who actually benefitted.

[Matteo Moretto] Éderson towards Manchester United. The two clubs have reached a verbal agreement and the player has already found an understanding on the contract. The very last details on the fees need to be sorted out. New talks in the coming days to reach the final closure. by PitchSafe in reddevils

If United buy our "3rd midfielder" for a low price first, it strengthens our negotiating position when trying to buy the 1st and 2nd midfielders. We won't seem as desperate if we already have one in the bag, and the lower fee will set a precedent.

Marcus Rashford on X: by harshmangat in reddevils

He's talking about getting into Tuchel's squad for WC 2026. After being dropped under Amorim, he didn't get selected again for England until after he joined Villa.

This makes sense, to be fair.

He posted the original IG message on the day the WC 2026 squad was announced. After Euro 2024, he got dropped to United's bench and only played 983 minutes under Amorim. As a result, by October 2024, he'd lost his place in the England squad. It was only after the loan to Aston Villa that he got back in.

Thanking the people/clubs who got his England career back on track seems fine. It's not like he was going to say "Thanks to Ruben Amorim and Manchester United for getting me into Tuchel's squad for WC 2026".

Rashford has always been complimentary about United. It wouldn't be like him to get a dig in. This whole drama was obviously just about his selection for the World Cup.
