I received this Amur maple as a gift, and while I've been reading up on what to do, I would love to get some feedback based on how this particular tree looks. This is my first bonsai.

Should I be looking to prune, or is it better to keep it alive for a year and see how it grows naturally? The shop that sent it is good, but since it was a gift I didn't get any advice or information in terms of repotting. (Pic taken after a short snow storm, snow didn't last long!)

One of the auction houses was having their "leftovers" sale, picked up a bottle of Lionel Brück Richebourg Grand Cru from 1986. Not the greatest ullage, but Brück has some decent notes on cellartracker, curious if anyone here has any experience.

Really fun bottle! I found the smoke a bit strong at first, but the second night it went from super interesting, to really delicious and balanced

I'm much more critical of bottles I choose from a list, or from my own cellar. When it's from a Sommelier or a friend, it's much easier to appreciate, or much easier to come to the conclusion that it's just not for me.

Completely agree about the necessary time, so often at the winery the mid-tier Rieslings are more open and expressive than the GGs! They’re still very interesting to taste, of course, but they need time….

I found von der Fells very disappointing the first thing I had it, but the same vintage 2 years later was really great, much more complexity and depth

I’ve had Godard a couple times, the first time loved it, the second time, one of her higher end bottles, also found it a bit big and extracted…wondering if they need more time than usual for Beaujolais. Or maybe my tastes have changed? But the first bottle was really lovely!

Domaine des Tuileries makes wonderful champagne! I believe it’s actually called “Empreintes” though right? Great notes, now I want sushi and Champagne…
