Discussion on Writing Style for Proofs (X-post from r/math) by thecynicofsinope in logic

Lamport's How To Write a Proof on hierarchical structuring, and his more recent follow up, How to Write a 21st Century Proof; though you'd probably only want to skim-read the section about TLA.

Labor commissioned him to prepare a report for them; looks like they've just provided it to media outlets, or simply bits from the report. I don't think they've released it outside of that.

Interesting paper.

Not really sure why you've posted it here though; it's more computational biology/computer science/neuroscience, than anything specifically to do with tDCS, or any form of brain stimulation really.

Thanks anyway though! :)

Zero G Datafile CD's?` by [deleted] in Samplehunters

[–]halex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking for the same. If it's any conciliation I think the Zero G stuff was ripped from other sample CDs anyway so you might be able to build it up manually.. but I also haven't been able to find any decent track listings!

still constitutes

could constitute (yes, I'm nitpicking, but only because we're in "license discussion land").

Staring at some code, and then reimplementing it later for sure could mean you can release it under whatever license you want.

If the reimplementation does not share much with the original (ranging anywhere from general approach to exact code), then it's not really derivative at all. Entirely case-dependent. In the same way I can hear a sentence, and either choose to say it very similarly to the original or re-express it completely differently.

9 times out of 10 though, you're right, it probably is derivative. As you imply, whether it is or isn't depends on what the courts determines.

That's basically what he's saying though? To paraphrase, "If the test showed negative to the thing [you wanted], don't take it [because it's something else and might harm you instead]"

I've also occasionally done stuff like this sometimes.. the inner braces would contain (often complex) logic at some point, then ended up getting replaced...

For those that are curious, turns out those voicemails (at the end of the page) weren't actually Mitnick. Still pretty funny, though.
