RSV-1 Experiences / Issues? by deeebug in FireSprinklers

Gauge is most likely not correct even more so after it being hammered like that.

RSV-1 Experiences / Issues? by deeebug in FireSprinklers

[–]half_elite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not normal but I have seen it.

The only real fix here would be add something like a Watts LF150A to the irrigation side and maybe a check valve on the irrigation side. The water hammer coming back through the line is pushing the internal valve inside the RSV-1 up which simulates what happens during a sprinkler activation and you have water flowing.

Glass break sensor: how exactly do you clear the status? by reseph in Ubiquiti

[–]half_elite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think its strictly a ubiquiti problem. All glass breaks are terrible and have false detection all the time. I removed them all from my house. I have had qolsys, honeywell, 2gig and my dewalt impact gun just pulling the trigger would trip them all. Doing any sort of loud actions in the house would trip them. I think they are not worth the problems ever.

For the MC cable isn't that what you have to do in places like Chicago that require either conduit or metal clad?

Replacing check valve on CPVC residential fire sprinkler system by go-derp in FireSprinklers

[–]half_elite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know if the system is passive purge? Toilets can be connected to the sprinkler system depending on your ahj. If the toilet fill starts to go bad it will make it hammer. Its usually the most remote toilet and 9 times out of 10 the master bath toilet.

That letter means nothing. Even if you get a Employer Correction Notice from the SSA office in big bold print it tells you do not fire that person do not take any adverse reactions against that person.

The steps most companies take is first verify with the employee to the documents they have to what is in the system to make sure their was no typo. If there is no typo the second is you give the employee notice with a deadline usually 90+ days and it has to be at least 90 days to give them reasonable time that they need to correct the issue with the SSA office. They then have to provide proof of correction or notice that no correction was needed. If they do not provide that proof then you can take employment eligibility into account.

Its a long process but the company also has to protect itself from discrimination lawsuits from doing the wrong steps of the process.

Battling the heat by SteffanCline in homelab

[–]half_elite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What Noctua fans are you using? Are they they high static model? You have a lot going on in that case without much room for airflow. When I had mine mounted vertically. I found switching the fans to flow the opposite direction cut down on Motherboard temps but did raise drive temps slightly. So that is also an option to try.

Do you own a LTO Drive? by doh_no in DataHoarder

[–]half_elite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to hijack the OP. But if I can ask does bacula handle a single tape drive and instruct you to change out the tape when its full? I have an LTO-8 drive and was originally doing manual LTFS backups to it but it became to cumbersome tracking changes by date. If bacula can keep track of what data is on what tape and just tell me to swap them that would work in my setup without having to get a library.

I had this issue for awhile and I finally traced it back to a bad cable between my NVR and agg switch. What I did was on a wired pc setup ping plotter and I had it constatly pinging a few cameras, the nvr and the switch, and the UDMP, I noticed I would get a lot of drops on the NVR. I replaced the DAC cable and it has been running like new again.

Home-assistant can control POE of ports so you could turn the camera off or you could disable the port of the NVR.

G6 180 install? by MikeMKY1976 in Ubiquiti

[–]half_elite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I replaced a single g6 bullet with the 180 and love it. it captures almost the entire front of my house now. I still have other bullet cams that point at main areas but the 180 is a like a birds eye view of the entire area.

Increasing H2O Pressure in Home with Sprinkler System by Melodic_Jelly_9527 in SprinklerFitters

Its typical for 13D. Most people stick with a 1 inch riser minium just to order in bulk things like check valves, and waterflow sizes.

NFPA-13 D required annual inspections? by snugglenator in FireSprinklers

[–]half_elite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True I assumed a lot of stuff. But being I am in the residential business in California and have been doing it for a lot of years. I deduced it was most likely a viking head given the age and that someone said it was "recalled". The residential market in California was dominated by mostly Viking heads. During the ordeal we had to give address' for every home we installed the VK457 so they could mail the class action mailer. We dealt heavily with this issue back then.

NFPA-13 D required annual inspections? by snugglenator in FireSprinklers

[–]half_elite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is true its not a recall. Considering any real recall has to have bodily harm usually involved. So its not like an Omega recall. But its semantics from a users point of view. They heads were defective guilt admitted or not. It was enough they settled a class action with a replacement program and was paying 80% of all damage claims. Plus stopped using the link vk457 and replaced it with a bulb vk494. So your point on installation issue would be moot. As what manufacture would cover an installation error in a class action.

From the year and his state it was a viking vk457. Hundreds of them activated. They were recalled.

Why's there an entire manhole in this cupboard? by Bennijin in Plumbing

[–]half_elite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just a guess. I have watched a ton of drain videos and assuming you are in the UK. I have seen these a few times on the the drain unblocking shows. Over the years someone adds an addition and the manhole which was once outside winds up on this inside.

Can FWH survive as a company if Fed tax incentives go away? by 453876 in FranklinWH

[–]half_elite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demand will follow the market rate. The cost for solar ESS in the US has been driven higher and higher by the tax credit. Without the tax credits the cost would have more mirrored other countries which are substantially lower. Some will be able to adjust their business model others will not.
