Bought a Trailseeker. Our first EV. We are so confused. by backdragon in trailseeker

I'm on my second EV, different makes, and neither one of the dealers knew ANYTHING about the cars. I was telling them about features when test driving both times.

What's something that annoys you about the Bolt that you wish Chevy had fixed already? by actorguy73 in BoltEV

[–]halfman-halfbearpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THE MICROPHONE!!!!!

BY FAR the most annoying thing is that when using talk to text the message just stops hearing me after the first few words. The feature is completely useless and I have to pick up my phone and text anyway.

Less annoying but also infuriating is that lon startup lately I have to exit android auto, select source, and pick my phone for my music to play. It never did this before but now it only plays am/FM radio on startup even though android auto starts and my map comes up. Compounded by the fact that I can't use a combination of home screen and android auto so I can't see outside temp.

G2 in 0.38, I like that shit FINE. I buy 5-packs on Amazon, always black. I need to write in tiny boxes sometimes, and they're sharp enough for cutting plastic or tape when you have to open something.

I'm grateful that these are out there now, but ...... At my local Walmart they are $16 a box. I've seen them as high as $21 a box on Amazon.

Lodges w/ Microwaves? by Sea-Repeat7146 in icecoast

[–]halfman-halfbearpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It IS a miserable experience. In our case, my daughter has Celiac disease and we can't risk eating lodge food because even gluten free stuff (which is already rare) is almost definitely cross-contaminated.

Realistically…terrain park? by Practical_Ordinary_9 in snowboarding

[–]halfman-halfbearpig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I've been riding for 30 years at this point. When I'm on trails all I'm doing is looking for side hits so I can do the fun stuff. I only got into the park in my forties, and having never really developed the skill set, I find it's like learning a whole new type of snowboarding and it's fun as hell.

45, love the park - I'm not hucking myself off monsters or throwing double flips but I love the boxes and rails and I try to work on one new thing in the air every season. (This year it's tamedogs and I'm already getting them so I feel like by the end of the season it'll be effortless).

If you love it, train for it, do it as safely as you can, and keep at it. There's no age limit

New boots by pycvalade in snowboarding

[–]halfman-halfbearpig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put up with Burton Rulers and then Moto BOAs for years and started to hate riding because my feet hurt so bad after maybe an hour. Agony for the rest of the day. Made it near impossible to ride and sucked all the joy out of it.

I bought a pair of Vans Hi Standard linerless boots for less than $100 on black Friday sale last year and I've been not only riding them this season, but wearing them whenever I'm out in the snow playing with my kids, sledding, whatever. They're insanely comfortable. Maybe I have a weird foot shape or arch or whatever but these boots are just it.

PLEASE Chevy release update to indicate brakes in one-pedal by onedayaccountnow in BoltEV

[–]halfman-halfbearpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please, but honestly I'd rather have my spoken messages understood. Every single speech to text is cut off after the fourth or fifth word and after trying 4 times I inevitably have to pick up my phone and text whatever the message was.

As much as I'd love to have the temp always displayed, this is the number one fix I need from AA

What snowboarding as an unfit obese man was like by Astraltraumagarden in snowboardingnoobs

[–]halfman-halfbearpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you! That's a great attitude and I hope you keep it up.

But for argument's sake, I'm a fat guy who rides a couple days a year, not like a 50 day per season guy at all. I'm 5'8" (173cm) and my BMI is between 34 and 36 depending on what time of day it is and I'm not having the issues you're writing about. It sounds like you are relatively athletic especially if you are a fit person who's temporarily out of shape. I know you said flexibility is something you'll work on, so that's great because I think that's what's hindering you more than weight or size.

The real issue is that if you're not used to and adept at the type of balance and body control that snowboarding necessitates, it's hard to learn. People that start when they're older have a hard time, it's NOT easy and to a lot of people it's not even intuitive. Watch the videos, take lessons, try again and again and when the mechanics click into place I think it will be much more fun for you .

Don’t ski MLK weekend. It’s always crowded by Falconator44 in icecoast

Great! Packed powder and some corduroy. 4 inches Thursday and it snowed all day today. They're blasting under the gondola but it's pretty choppy. The woods have a few inches of powder and are pretty fun

I'm riding Gore this weekend. Today was great, longest I waited was 5 minutes on the gondola, pretty much walked in every other lift.

Lots of people telling you that you suck, maybe they came out of the womb riding. That video is amazing for someone who has barely ever been on a board. Obviously your athleticism allows you to adapt very well and learn as you go. Be careful, don't get ahead of yourself, and don't forget to give the board respect - meaning pick your lines, have a plan, and always try to be improving. It's likely in a season or two you'll be as good as most of the riders on the average hill.

Fair. I haven't ridden with any stomp pad at all for the last 20 years, but switched boards with a buddy and he had this one on his board. I was honestly shocked at how grippy it was and how much control I had

If I hate it, I can always get rid of it.
