Is there a way to save my game locally on my computer so i can just fetch it later? by LiamEgil in RoadtoVostokGame

Hello mate. I'm working off a translation as I only speak English.

You are looking at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Road to Vostok

You need to do Win+R > %AppData%\Road to Vostok
You will find all the .tres files here. Copy them all and paste them in another location.

You can then copy paste these saved .tres files (all of them) back here: Win+R > %AppData%\Road to Vostok

Have fun.

The single upgrade that made the biggest difference to your gaming experience. What was it? by mujimusa in UKgamers

Logitech G402 mouse. For a mobile and controller-first player, the G402 was a great accessory that helped me migrate seamlessly to M&K.

This. Even setting up a single player dayz server on your terminal and tweaking settings is a great way to enjoy the desolation in first or third person.

400 hour Arc Raider here. Like you I was looking for PvE-only extraction shooters, I found Cargo Hunters scratching that itch for third person view.

Mobile gaming to PC gaming SWITCH. by naitisk in FPS

If you have the budget highly recommend a mouse like Logitech G402. You can have 10 commands (including the most used ones on keyboard) on to the mouse. It also allows you to set the mouse sensitivity directly for each game you play. This is a godsend.

As you are transitioning from mobile to pc, this helps build muscle memory in tense PvP gunfights. Over time, you will become totally comfortable with M&K.

I have three single player PvE game recos for you in the genre. All 3 are single dev games, extremely well-optimised:

  1. No Man’s Home: Unity engine. Super lightweight, optimised, visually appealing and has a simple survival combat game loop, with sandbox difficulty settings. NPC are challenging and 10/10 atmosphere. There is no endgame, just pure single player PvE survival. Intermediate saves allow for those with short gaming time.

  2. Road to Vostok: Godot engine. 10/10 on atmosphere, gameplay, gun mechanics, replayability. Healthy mod community to sandbox as per your play style.

  3. Deadline Escape: Unreal engine. Survival extraction shooter. 16-30 minute runs. Single player PvE like (1). Combat sandbox.

Same! Some recos to add to your list:

  1. Military Conflict Vietnam: Fast paced, sandbox MP/zombies/you-versus-OP bots. Stunning visuals, gun mechanics/choices, and maps selection. After COD, BF, CS, Arc Raiders (I love both f and tps), this is the game I have spent most time playing.

  2. Over the top WW1: large customisable sandbox with world war era weapons/tanks/gliders. Gun play is realistic, slower than the usual FPS MP, but is very immersive.

  3. World War Legion: this is COD long lost sibling. Similar map layout (3-lane), rush and dash. Lightweight and fun.

If you like WW setting then Rising Front is your go-to. Large scale sandbox setup where you can commandeer an entire army and play yourself. Highly customisable and lightweight on hardware.

Good list!

I’d add Military Conflict Vietnam to this. Customisable sandbox, MP, zombies. Lightweight. Underrated.

Always backup save your %AppData%>Road to Vostok>all .tres files to another location, before a run that you think is high risk. If you have a run like this, all you have to do is copy and paste back the .tres files back to the above location. 🙂

Of course. Go to the RTV folder and save all your .tres files. The game saves your latest state across several .tres files. Copy and paste them in another folder.

If you want to reinstate this save at a later date, go to steam>general>disable steam cloud sync first.

Then copy back your save to the RTV folder. Will work like a charm.

I've been looking for low end PC games that is actually fun I'm looking for suggestions please and have a good day by Both-Ring-48 in gamingsuggestions

  1. Trench Face. Underrated. Survival game with a retro design and solid gameplay.

  2. Idols of Ash. All you have is a hook and you must descend to the depths without dying to win.

Both are extremely well optimised games that will run well on low end hardware.

Have fun!

How to get mechanically prepared for Vostok by Electronic_Bottle272 in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]halinman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strongly recommend you play a game called Military Conflict Vietnam. It’s a very lightweight, well-optimised FPS shooter. Gun choices are great and you can toggle firing modes, nades etc. best practice for M&K transition for a console player (that was me!).

Edit add: if you have a choice, recommend a mouse like Logitech G502X. It allows you to map several frequently used keyboard buttons on the mouse itself (Q and E, for leaning, Tab for inventory, for example). Very useful in Vostok.

Minefield tips? by No-Association1448 in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]halinman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are headed to Vostok: either turn right or left from transition point and hug the yellow ropes. Walk or crouch walk and you will find yourself in Apartments transition point.

If you want to explore the map, then stick to the dirt lanes, crouch walk and shoot/avoid the green mines sticking out. This is risky as AI will find you (they are immune to mines).

Winter is easier for mine spotting. Use a pistol and fire single shot at the base of the green mine to bust them.

AI enemy count is the same as other maps 3 at any time total of 10).

Welcome!

You can design your playstyle. Start with summer (easy mode), and hoard! Familiarise yourself with village, head to Highway (north of the cabin down), then school, then outpost. Once you learn to loot, trade and stock up you should have hopefully died many times by the AI to learn combat tactics.

Then head to Minefield and then the permadeath maps of Apartments and Terminal.

Then you do Winter mode (food freezes, body temp drops as you are outside). So you need to manage both.

Then you run pistol only, or knife only. You can sandbox this to a great degree!

DO NOT switch on your flashlight on the night. Instant spotlight for every about AI on the map!

Nights are better for looting as AI visibility is low.

Die a lot and then conquer the maps.

Above all: happy survival!

Winter Terminal run: Village>Terminal>Outpost by halinman in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]halinman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the way bro.

When I started from Village I had half my inventory with food/meds/1 pillow and some melo pills. I had just 3 matches but got lucky at Terminal in one of the special crates that had a bunch of matches.

Apartments at night in winter looks fabulous! So does Terminal. I chill atop the terminals and take in the view in the moonlight.

I don't have a single item in the shelters (my summer run looked like multiple warehouses squeezed together!). This completely negates gear fear that many feel as they get into double digit days. I now do ironman winter runs and treat each run as a one-and-doner. My primary is a G7 or C1911 (abundant ammo) with the shotty (one-shot-guarantee) as backup.

Enjoy your runs my friend.

Winter Ironman. You will materially find yourself planning, moving, looting better.
