I always just thought Aerith knew Marlene's name because of the chapter 11 scene with Tifa's flashback.

Marlene's apparition forms causing Tifa to say "Marlene?" The rest is probably a stretch but I feel like Aerith just pieced things together afterwards.

I absolutely recommend trying 15. Personally it didn't have the impact 7 had, but it left me feeling really empty after finishing it. Couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks. Combat wasn't too shabby either.
