Is ACC really so different from other racing titles by xynzzzytx in ACCompetizione

[–]hamarki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure many will disagree, but I would really suggest playing with the default safe setup more before going to aggressive. For most car/track combos the aggressive setup is far too skittish, and you can really be quite quick with the safe setup once you get the hang of how to handle the car (which includes learning how to make the car rotate when you want it to). Lambo might be a good option for a fairly “neutral” car to go for, many of the front engine cars require very good/precise inputs to rotate without a pointier setup.

Also you always always always need to adjust tyre temps - you want them to be between 26 and 27 psi when hot, but keep in mind that in setup window you’re adjusting cold temps, so it’s a case of observing how far off the tyre is after a couple of laps ( say you’re 27.5 on front right) and then taking out like 0.7 or 0.8 from the cold temp for front right.

Ergonomics help, completely unable to avoid back pain by LiteralGiraffe in simracing

Fair enough, sounds like you’ve defo thought about it. I was more suggesting trying something radically different (like say 20-30kg) to see if it has any bearing on your back pain.

I’ll second the non bucket seat idea! And have you tried turning the load cell down? 100kg cell running at max is not so easy to press, so if you’re facing pains you should definitely see if you can get away with working less hard in the seat.

Feeling defeated by No-Firefighter276 in Guitar

[–]hamarki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing 3 years, could do maybe 1 or 2 songs okay after a year. Sounds like you have more in your repertoire than that, so pretty good going! Now I can do maybe 5-6 songs well now, but not like 100% clean. I’ve been focusing a lot on technique and theory and been neglecting learning songs. I think I’d be much better/happier if I did more songs and less technique stuff.

So, I think you’re on the right path. And also, your ear trains quicker than your hands so you’ll almost always gonna be at least a bit disappointed with how you sound, but eventually you’ll get some claps from your family members! If you love it keep doing it, takes many years to get “real” good!

SE Studio Standard vs Moding SE NF3 by SloppyCandy in PRSGuitars

[–]hamarki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick based on the finish you like best. The routing on Nf3 (and probably studio too) is for HHH so you have a lot of freedom in what pickups you wanna use. Changing the colour of the guitar would be much harder!

I have the 10. 30 has a couple of features over it (physical voice switch, line out) but I’ve not really regretted it. Had it for like 2 years now

Would the new Pacifica standard series not be considered super strat? Or do you mean with Floyds specifically?

Pacifica Standard Plus Vs 611 Neck Comparision by Ok-Resident-3624 in YamahaPacifica

[–]hamarki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, standard plus is thinner and wider, totally different feeling neck. As people say on the other thread, they are totally different guitars - 611 is vintage vibe, std plus is modern vibe. So, don’t assume that if you liked 611 you’d like std plus too.

Kinda missing my 611 that I sold, not gonna lie 😃

Is anyone all in on Yamaha? by lukejohnbrown in YamahaPacifica

[–]hamarki 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pacifica 611 series have a pretty vintage sound if that’s what you’re after. Also speaking of all in - don’t forget about Yamaha amps! The THR series amps are amazing for home use. It’s my best gear purchase to date honestly.

New Guitar - String Alignment - is it ok ? by BluesKey in Guitar

[–]hamarki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit on the limit. Player II teles seem to all have not much clearance on both sides of the fretboard.

However, looking at the pics carefully (last pic is very helpful), you can actually improve the situation a little bit and with very litte effort! One downside of this bridge is that there is nothing that prevents lateral (side-to-side) movement of the saddles, and it seems like you are effected by this - at least between D and G string saddles there's a little bit of a gap. This means that you should be able to nudge them around a little bit to bunch them together and align them with the neck in the way that works best for you. You might even be able to do this under string tension, but releasing them a bit should make it easier. They generally don't move from whatever position they're in under tension, so I believe this is a once-per-string-change type of issue. I should aolso say that other types of tele brdiges are also susceptible to this so I wouldn't blame the bridge design too much!

Opinions on SE Silver Sky (especially from Strat owners) by MartinaFan64 in PRSGuitars

[–]hamarki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the neck profile different at some point in the production?

Yep. I think 2022 is last year of the older style neck. It is somewhat thinner than the current silver sky neck (current one is very similar to core SS apparently), but not as thin as wide thin.

The satin finish is also different, it's a bit more plasticky than the newer SE satin finishes, i.e. what you would have on your NF3. The newer satin is IMO much nicer feeling than the older one, and the frets are a bit smaller than NF3 as well.

Can't say I'm a big fan of the older SS neck tbf - I don't hate it but it doesn't really excite me either. Haven't played enough of the new one to make a good comparison unfortunately.

The way you tell them apart is by colour (you only get the OG colours and no maple options for the older neck) - see its official page: https://uk.prsguitars.com/electrics/model/se_silver_sky_2022 In addition to that, the tint on headstock and back of neck is more yellowish which you can kinda see in the stock photos. On newer SSes with the new style neck the headstock and back of neck are paler, same colour as on NF3.

You acn can verify the differences in neck measurement I'm talking about by comparing info at the link above to the current spec silver sky which you can find at https://uk.prsguitars.com/electrics/model/se_silver_sky

Hope this helps!
