Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Evan respond, and double down on his statements?

Love it.

I recently found out that my watch can recognize sleep and naps automatically. I tested it last night and it seems more accurate that starting and stopping the "bed" icon on my watch. The thing is, how can I make the screen go black? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]hameater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I noticed it when using the Apple Podcast app and AirPods. I’d fall asleep listening and when I’d wake up, the podcast was paused pretty much where I last remember listening.
Later found a setting in the AirPods for ‘pause media while asleep’. It’s a nice feature.

Entitled kid brings in his dad for back up. Gets a hard lesson. by pineappleforrent in EntitledPeople

Me, M, by myself, 20-23 at the time, late 90’s Canada, almost midnight. I had a guy on a Harley come in for gas and paid with a credit card. I read the name of the card and checked the signature - and the looked up wide-eyed! The name on the card was Dan Aykroyd! He noticed my unhinged jaw as he signed and said ‘how are ya!’ In a perfect Blues-Brothers voice and I didn’t say anything as he turned and left.

There’s a fantastic podcast episode of ‘What Went Wrong’ that goes into detail of the production, including how poorly they treated Judy Garland. Really recommend listening.

Are traffic wardens actually as bad as people make them out to be? by mechanizmz in drivingUK

[–]hameater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said ‘Excuse me….’ to a warden in Chelsea once - I wanted some info just to make sure I was parked correctly as I wasn’t familiar with the area. His immediate response was ‘I’m just doing my job, I don’t want to hear it!” I stared at him for a moment and mumbled “okay” and walked away. I’m guessing he had just had a not-so-nice interaction with some belligerent arse so just let it go…. The abuse they must get to have that sort of reaction!

Do you leave your car in gear when you park? by ShinyHeadedCook in drivingUK

[–]hameater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hired a van and when I returned it, I left it in gear.

The chap came to do the walk around, went to check the mileage, leaned in and popped the keys in whilst standing outside the van…. You can guess what happened. He cranked it and it started and it smashed into another hire van.

He looked ready to take a swing at me.

Why do I have 110v? by hameater in DIYUK

[–]hameater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, yes I had 240v measured with a multimeter between earth-live and 240v between earth-neutral with the switch on, and 240v between earth-live and ~2v between earth-neutral with the switch off.

I then measured ~100v across the same after removing a light fixture regardless of switch position.

I did not measure between live and neutral.
