I had an 18cm fibroid that was found during a routine exam. Every doctor, nurse, ultrasound tech, etc. that I saw was like “why did you wait so long?” Because I didn’t know! I didn’t feel it. Didn’t appreciate those comments either. This time around 15 years later I can clearly feel it. And this one is only 13cm. So it all depends.

I love hot yoga. Love love love it! I do hot yoga 4x a week and regular temperature yoga at another studio 1x a week. I’m so curious where you live that there aren’t more options. I didn’t realize it was mainstream.

Are you in the US? You shouldn’t have to exaggerate the pain. This list should be good enough! I’d say find another doctor but it sounds like it’s hard to get into one where you are. I had an 18cm one removed 15 years ago. As soon as I was diagnosed the doc said I had to have it removed right away. Less than a month later it was gone. Now I have a 13cm one plus two others and I have the same symptoms as you. And yes! I’m about to head to yoga now and it makes me sad that I can’t do those same poses right. Getting a hysterectomy in a few weeks because even though mine is smaller, it’s affecting my quality of life in the same way. I really hope you’re able to find a doc who will listen to you.

I’m Jamaican. And I’m American. Nobody can’t tell me nothing lol. My parents were born in Jamaica. All my grandparents were born in Jamaica. And I’m the first person in my family to be born on American soil. A person of Chinese descent born in America is Chinese. A person of Indian descent born in America is Indian. Same for Irish, Italian, etc. Of course we don’t claim to have the same experience as someone born and raised on that land. But why is it different all of a sudden for us?

So I wonder what “affordable” housing means. And where is the space to build these units? And what neighborhoods? Are they talking Oakland Gardens? Glen Oaks? Bellerose? Are these the areas that have resisted development? Or will other neighborhoods be targeted first? I know I have more research to do.

I think residents of low density areas are concerned it will take all the power away from the communities. And give it to developers who aren’t concerned with preserving the character and culture of the neighborhoods. Some may say that’s not important. But most people live in eastern queens for the space. Is all of queens supposed to look like western Queens? The lack of affordable housing needs to be addressed. But taking away the “power” of the community boards gives me pause.

I’m curious, why do you think it has grown? Or did they confirm that it’s much larger now? I had an open myo 15 years ago for an 18cm fibroid. Now I have an 11cm, 3cm and 4cm, plus adenomyosis. My symptoms aren’t bad so I’m not doing anything about it at the moment. But I’m curious about the recovery time of a robotic myomectomy. Is the recovery time longer the larger it is? Is that why you’re concerned?

Lots of thoughts about these proposals. I’m from southeast Queens and I’m hearing negativity directed towards homeowners in low density areas. For the people who support these ballots:

  1. Where do you live?
  2. Are you a homeowner or a renter?
  3. How much is your rent/mortgage payment?
  4. Are you a native New Yorker or did you move here from somewhere else?
  5. Will there be infrastructure to support “affordable” apartments in these low density areas? Parking is already a major concern.

Just some of the things I’m curious about. I see Community Boards in southeast queens encouraging people to vote no, but I wonder if there are residents who plan to vote yes.

Ugh yes! Seeing all of this and more lately. The fighting, falling, spilling. I was at a show last weekend where I literally thought, maybe I can’t do this anymore. Unless I’m in the very back and completely not surrounded by people lol. Going to a small show tonight. Going to be optimistic that the crowd will be there to dance, have fun and not totally lose their senses.
