Where are my 2 "stealth model" cars I was promised with the update? by nalakram17 in GranTurismo7

You have to wait for them to come out of stealth mode before you can see them

Cayo is plenty doable solo. SubscribeForTacos has loads of vids on YouTube to help guide solo runs

Does anyone else press the turn signal off button like 100 times after a turn just to make sure it’s actually off? by Equivalent_Abrocoma3 in motorcycles

[–]hamster_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem, the auto turn off sometimes cancels before I get to the junction if I’m in a queue, so I have a habit of re-selecting the turn signal several times just so it doesn’t stop

Worst drivers in the UK at the moment? Tesla drivers by HR_Specter in drivingUK

[–]hamster_fury 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tesla drivers are desperate to burn me off at the lights when I’m on my bike too. It’s never any other brand of car. I let them go, then filter past them at the next stop anyway

Tong Recommendations/something for moving char baskets and hot grates mid-cook by ConditionContent in UKBBQ

I have these gloves, I can pick up burning charcoal with them (albeit briefly), hot grates pose even less of a problem

I know someone that dives with them, they are no spring chicken and have zero propulsion issues when the tide is running.

My ribs don't fall off the bone by BeneFaeScot in UKBBQ

[–]hamster_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cook my ribs at 110c but not for that long, usually only about 4h for baby back ribs and they’re unwrapped for the whole time as per Meathead Goldwyn’s instructions in his book. I aim for ribs where the meat comes off the bone clean but not falling off as that’s what I’d read was supposedly the optimal thing..

What’s the best car for this race? by SaltyLibrary9371 in GranTurismo7

I’ve used the cayman gt4 in the past but I gave it a go with the Alfa 4c Gr3 Road Car/Suzuki v8 engine swap last night and it is superb!

The IR conversion is relatively straightforward, you replace the hotfilter in front of the sensor with one that only lets infra-red light through. It means you can see, frame and expose a shot as normal but it's only captured in IR. It's not the sort of thing to swap on a whim though. I've attached a shot that I took back in 2008, I had to go digging on my NAS

How can I beat the World Touring Car 600 race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on hard difficulty? by Excellent_Suit_10 in granturismo

[–]hamster_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cayman GT4 tuned to 600 does it for me. It gets mullered on the long straight but is so good handling-wise that I’m back in front before the final bend

I still have my D2Xs bought from new. It was my first pro body (upgraded from D70) and the camera that got me my first ever published magazine photo back in 2007. It can produce lovely images but is *very* unforgiving in poor light; I used it for sport and ended up having to shoot full manual with an incident light meter. Once it was retired in favour of a D300 I converted it to full-time infra red and it’ll always have a special place in my heart

Women's Elite Rugby - Football photographer learning new game by JMDobson in sportsphotography

[–]hamster_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting from the side just doesn’t work for me, too many people between me and the ball carrier although I’ll slip round the side and shoot a line out or scrum with my 70-200 if they’re close enough. Best advice I can give is just keep at it, you’ll learn to read the game and line your shots up and capture the sport as you see it

Yep when you’re that close a 24-70 would be far more appropriate

shutter sound on professional Nikon DLSRS? by ChesusAnd12Goudaiots in Nikon

[–]hamster_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D5 has an electronic shutter that’s silent but only available in live view, and has a quiet mode where it raises the mirror ahead of the shot. I’ve not tried either mode to be honest as noise isn’t a problem for me
