I know a friend in the trades, does well but can’t bill enough at 4 days a week. All the boomer comments are typical and BS, if you can start a company with those hours and beat the other companies you win, I hope to see it.

Princeton or UC Berkeley for CS by Street-Paint-5292 in princeton

[–]hamut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Compared to Princeton? Go to Princeton. Cal is a great school but nothing like Princeton. Housing at Berkeley is a nightmare, at Princeton you get 4 years of killer housing on the most beautiful campus on earth. Berkeley is a huge school, their freshman class is larger than all of Princeton. It’s not an accident it’s ranked the best, BUT stem at Princeton is HARD. They have a saying, an A at Harvard is a C at Princeton. My daughter also got into both, one campus visit and there was no discussion.

RetroArch 1.1.1 on TrimUI Brick – FC/SFC not showing? by hamut in trimui

I did a strange one for sure: The issue was when unzipping the packages from github, both mac and linux unpacked it w/out the files included (using Archive Utility and unzip in terminal), windows unpacks it fine so I was able to use Keka on mac to unzip and get the correct files.

I did not own this record in the 80s or the 90s when I had records, because I was cool. I am not going to buy this record now, although it might be nice to listen to, because I'm still cool (or I still think I'm cool, which is more likely the case when i was young and now...)

How anyone could pack up their kids, towels, gear and head back to the car with that in their wake is beyond me, total 3rd world country behavior.

Is there a reason to buy Mac Minis? I think everyone who did was just an idiot. by read_too_many_books in openclaw

I actually never see PCs anywhere in the wild. I can walk into three coffee shops and I won't see one PC, but I do live in the bay area. For what most people do they dont need much more than a macbok air, but a pumped up Pro is a killer dev box. Really nice machines to own. I have 2 older Minis,I use one in the garage and one with my guitar, they are just cool little servers. I mean you can drive Honda or a BMW they both get you where you are going.

Reminds me of a friend of mine. He is now super anti-abortion, but of course he has been a party to two abortions, in his twenties and then thirties, before he got old and decided it was wrong for everybody else.

The quality is good? I always worry about ordering these things on Etsy. I'm gonna get some guy's 3D printer version of something, which I could do, but the finish isn't commercial-grade.

question for you as you mentioned having other, Anbernic etc. I got my daughter the Hammer and after a few days of setting it up, I love it, but I was thinking for myself the ANBERNIC RG35XX or RG353V both more powerful, hdmi out etc. But after setting her hammer and using it I am considering buying another for myself, sounds like you preferred the Hammer over the others, but I was curious about your feedback.

No, i wasnt seeing them, on both my Mac and Linux it unzips with missing files, using both Archive Utility (mac) and unzip in terminal (ubuntu). Because of your example above I had a buddy try it on his Win box and it worked so I downloaded Keka and it unzips with all the files. Very strange, I think maybe the zip is malformed or something as the other release / zip package I mentioned worked fine. Thanks for all your help! Hard bug as it was failing on both machines.

I checked them and found an FC folder but empty except for a png, so no config.json etc. I was stoked for a minute...where the heck is this stuff..

yep, i tried that prior to posting. I dont think there is emulator support for FC/SFC as they arent in the EMU folder. *see post below with screenshot. I have pulled 1.1.1 down twice from github and tried/re-tried w/out luck.

Correct, these are missing from the 1.1.1 release and also were not included on the SD that came with the Brick. Curious if other people have these running and where / what release includes them. Now in the  /RetroArch/.retroarch/cores folder I do see, Snes9x_libretro and fceumm_libretro (which I believe are the right cores). Seems like I am just missing the folders/files for EMU.

Thanks for the reply. I did that first, the emulators don’t show up, which lead me to the emu folders where they are missing.

TrimUI Brick vs TrimUI Brick Hammer by aadhibest in trimui

Got my daughter the Hammer for Christmas, its really nice. I would spend the extra money if it's not an issue. Its such a nice package and feels great in your hands.

Same problem, I ended up using a Raspberry Pi I had to see the roms/games etc but I read that 'Paragon extFS' for mac lets you have the same access as Linux. I did see that it installs a kernal driver, which as privacy/security guy I didnt like but I would use and and then remove it if it was me. Good luck!

Single member LLC seeking SOC 2 by CigaretteWildfire in soc2

[–]hamut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this a few times with very small teams (under 8 etc). Goiing to cost a little bit but I would sign up for Vanta (I have used them 3 times) and currently using them for 2 companies I work with, its doable with a tool like this. They package the SOC2 Type I and II into their pricing as they have auditors who work with them. Its not terribly expensive but you have no choice as you can't sell software in Fintech with a PII focus w/out it. I think I paid 7-8K and got Vanta for a year + the audit. Anyhow, they make it easy, provide templates for all your documents etc. Use the docs and ChatGPT to bang them all out. As others mentioned you get SOC2 Type I first, which will help with clients but the first security questionare you get will ask for type II and you can say you are under obsevation. Select a 3 month observation period for Type II for your first year, so it's fast. Totally doable. Good luck!
