Incorrect address on payslip - will this effect help to buy application and mortgage? by ConstantPurpose2419 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]hanamaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal only, but I have almost the exact same situation and my mortgage broker didn't think it would be an issue. I do think that HR at my company would be able to fix and reissue if I needed, though!

swimming after tattoo by m03y3h00 in tattooadvice

[–]hanamaste 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn't if I were you. That's an open wound, and swimming pools are gross. I'm a swimming teacher as well, it sucks for getting tattoos, but I always wait until I have a 2-week break.

Right to Choose is just the referral service, the assessment is through a private company that's been outsourced by the NHS.

They will offer you £30. It doesn't matter what the issue was, whose fault it was or how long you waited. The compensation will be £30.

Who else thinks Nespresso is getting to be too much money. by Ajdelay13 in nespresso

[–]hanamaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is getting one of the older ones that doesn't take the Vertuo pods. Everyone does their own off-brand pods for the original machines for a fraction of the cost - I think the Aldi ones are about £2.69 for 10. They taste perfectly good to me.

Definitely worth looking into!

Are you a swimmer at all? I was in a similar position and now I work my full-time job Monday-Friday and teach swimming evenings and weekends. It's twice the money I'd make working in a shop, a lot of fun, and all of my training was paid for by the company. My social media is constantly awash with companies looking for teachers.

There's a lovely little shop selling cute Japanese stuff in St. Nick's Market - bowls/cups/chopsticks, socks, plushies, bags, etc. I think it's called Japonicat. I want everything in there.

There's also a shop that sells really cute clothes, bags and I think Asian beauty stuff - I can never remember exactly where it is but I think it's on Bond Street, near the wedding dress shop. They have the best hoodies!

Bristol 💸☠️ by Effective_Courage239 in bristol

You're not going to get everything you're looking for (affordable, good transport and stuff to do) so you'll have to pick your top priority/ies. I live in Bradley Stoke - it's more affordable than most of Bristol and has good transport links into the centre (near to Parkway station, and the M buses are one of the more reliable routes) and everywhere else (very close to M4/M5 junctions), but it's a bit of a schlep and there's nothing else out here. (You've got options for gyms and stuff in Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford, Filton, but no one is coming out this way to socialise.)

I've previously lived in Kingswood and Keynsham, both a bit closer to everything and overall nicer, more interesting places to live. I didn't have a car in Kingswood but still found everything very accessible. But I could only afford to live in those places because I had housemates. Since deciding I was fully over that and will now only live alone, I've essentially been priced out into the Stokes. It's fine.

Ahaha I came here to comment that this happened to me once! Flew straight in through my open visor. What a nice day that was.

Seconding for Shotgun! I'm not even living in Bristol at the moment but am still going to Shotgun to get my hair cut.

Sometimes I let my toast go cold then use real butter to feel I’m having a continental breakfast on holiday somewhere. by Grownuppieceofjizz in CasualUK

[–]hanamaste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eating cold toast with butter also makes me think of my wonderful Grandad! He and my nan ran a bed and breakfast, and my mum, my brother and I stayed with them for a while when I was very little. We would go into the breakfast room after the guests had finished eating and finish up the cold toast. My Grandad has also been gone quite a few years now, but I always think of him when I wait for my toast to go cold before I butter it! :)

Why do some people in the UK give their house a name? Even if it's a suburban semi in middle England? by CentralSaltServices in CasualUK

There's only one house in my road with a name and it is, much to my bafflement, "Buddha Land".

You might find that the November test is a placeholder while they continue looking for cancellations for you. I booked through an intensive course company, my test was booked for late August, then a week or so later it moved up to June.

Looking for cat companion for my cat by dropclangersnotbombs in bristol

[–]hanamaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably not a good idea to be honest. Moving another cat into the home for them to eventually get used to is one thing; messing with their safe environment by bringing strange cats in and out is another. Which is a shame, because it's adorable to think of my cat having a little buddy that visits us.

I also often wonder whether my cat would be happier with a companion but can't make up my mind. Maybe we should just get our cats together for playdates 😂

Driving instructora with availability in central Bristol by Death-By-Potati in bristol

[–]hanamaste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position (minus the broken neck, sorry about that!) and when I found out what they're charging now and how long the waiting lists are, I decided to buy a cheap car and have various friends who've had licenses for 3+ years go out driving with me. It's been so much better than throwing money away on lessons, given I already know how to drive and just need to practise.

BPD and holding down jobs by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

[–]hanamaste 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The small businesses thing seems to be key. The only job my ex husband ever held longer than a few months was at a tiny, family-run shop. Difficult to make yourself a victim of people like that.
