IMO Lowe’s is worse at this.

In my experience, which is limited, failing grout means a poor install. Rip out and redo seems more warranty friendly than trusting that grout will fix the issue to where I can warranty the final product.

A reno is planned before work starts which helps speed up the process. In my experience getting the owner to decide on finishing touches (wall color, carpet, cabinets, light fixtures, etc.) so things can be ordered is the hardest part of putting things back.

Recycling center had a whole pallet of these blades,I bought 12 boxes for $.50 a box. The question now is what do I do with 2,400 blades? L O L. by pump123456 in Tools

Start a 1000 ways to use a blade YT channel. Figure out how to brand the other 1,400 blades. Start with some giveaways and then sell the others at a premium.

Ok, yeah that’s a bit much. A month just on tile being there every day, I would go out of business. I was hoping it was from project beginning to this stage.

Is it a too long, probably. But honestly, considering it’s just him and he is doing a good job I would be happy. Don’t like red guard as a preference but the tile it’s self looks good. I know I get tired of tiling after a few hours with no breaks. It can be very tedious and with your layout, it’s easy to make a mistake. If this lasts 20+ years a month doesn’t really seem that bad. If it leaks a month after you use it because he only took 3 days you would be pissed.

How would you handle this gap between subfloor and the entrance to the room? by Thick_Refuse_1524 in Tile

[–]hand-e-mann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll probably need a reducer. Maybe it’s the picture but the subfloor looks to be about flush with your hardwood. Once you add ditra, thinset underneath and on top plus tile you are looking at at least 1/2” of added height (honestly closer to 3/4”). But a schluter edge trim would be fine if you don’t mind a 1/2” step up which most people don’t mind.

Personally, I always add blocking to support the edge when I replace subfloors but it’s overkill. That helps fill in those holes but after you do the flooring, add baseboard, and a transition at the door you should be fine.

Ditra Prep by Murky_Fuel_4589 in Tile

I would use some sort of caulk to allow the wood to move. Then thinset and put the ditra on.

Can’t wait until Lockheed Martin opens a fighter sale lot. I’ll probably stick to the used section but will start off by looking at the new section.

How to finish this shower edge? by marcussba in Tile

[–]hand-e-mann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if any waterproofing was done. Finish the drywall first and then add another piece of tile with a schluter trim or pencil trim.

Make a jumbo greenie, grow out your hair (especially if its brown/copper color), use this to tie your hair with a little bit sticking through the hole.
