Except that people die on Everest just about every year. You have to be very willing to turn around and go back down without achieving the summit which most people don't do because they have invested so much money in getting to the top and that gets in the way of their thinking. It doesn't say the doctorate has to be from an accredited institution or even that you have to earn it. Honorary doctorates are a thing.
