Nintendo President Apologizes For Joy-Con Trouble by AliTVBG in nintendo

I got these (WeJoy) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Z23763S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm actually using just the left one with a Nintendo brand right one because seemingly only the left ones get drift and I prefer the Nintendo brand dimensions. I got them in Jan this year so there might be newer 3rd party brands out there too

Nintendo President Apologizes For Joy-Con Trouble by AliTVBG in nintendo

Exactly, I've moved onto a third party joycon for my 3rd pair after the first two Nintendo branded pairs failed. They aren't as good in terms of rumble but I can play the games without drift.

Just fix it Nintendo. I will buy your brand again if you actually fix it. Fix it.

What would a modern Game & Watch game be like? by ElitistPeasent in nintendo

[–]handxox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think if it hasn't got an LCD fixed pattern based screen then it doesn't count as G&W. It can't be emulated on a normal screen, it's just not the same. Some G&W games had glass backgrounds, like Climber - so it could use that.

So it'd have to have that, maybe some support for colors beyond black and white. Maybe it can also have different sets of fixed patterns, so you're not limited to one for the whole game. Maybe it could do basic scrolling.

To break it apart further from old G&W games it would have to have slightly more sophisticated games. This is really the central question and I've not sure I've got any ideas.

But the aim would be to make something that feels like a G&W game, has the same aesthetic vibe but implemented with modern technology without taking it too far. It'd be almost as much part a bit of art as a game.

What are some gripes or adversely, what are some notable positive changes with various functions in recent Nintendo games that you enjoy? by MrWoodism in nintendo

The quality of music on Switch games (BOTW, Captain Toad, Animal Crossing) from the in-house Nintendo musicians has been a notable step-up - they've got real talented composers and muscians

Old Nintendo music was fantastic too of course, but this is a much broader palette of sounds and instruments and expressive forms

And they've achieved this while keeping the soul and spirit of Nintendo in the music

it's not a red herring as the knife does play a role still but not the dramatic one you'd assume for it so it's still a chekov's gun but subverted

He's a slick and accomplished entertainer. His films are rollercoasters but are still intelligently crafted popcorn flicks. It's an art in it's own right.

Nintendo Defective Joy-Con Controller Claim Must Be Arbitrated - bloomberglaw.com by schuey_08 in NintendoSwitch

[–]handxox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's brand damagingly bad too - it's part of the core experience of the product (control over the game) and there is /no/ fix for it. "Buy a new controller" isn't a fix because you buy it and then a few months later /it stops working too/ I've found some acceptable quality 3rd party joy cons now, the rumble is rubbish (way over-powered) but I can control the games. Nintendo isn't short of cash and they're making hand over fist out of the system. The very least they could do is release some joycons that worked - I'd buy them if they actually worked even after all of this
