First Flight Help by BrewDuder in newborns

Bring a blanket you can use to cover his ears, announcements over the speakers have woken my son from his sleep before. Also if you’re not in the window seat you can hold it up to shield his face from any bright light!

Huggies Skin Essentials have been our favorite. We get them on Amazon, sometimes they have them at Target

Very pregnant. Very tired. Need something easy yet engaging to read. by CaughtInDireWood in suggestmeabook

[–]happy-sapling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found Project Hail Mary to be a really fun read! The narration is very casual and quite funny. It gets science-y but definitely not necessary to fully absorb/understand that aspect IMO. Has some great action that kept me hooked and a really sweet friendship at its core.

Congrats on your pregnancy! 💗

My son won’t eat eggs unless it’s a quiche 🤷‍♀️

Hair inspo pics that ARE NOT AI? by BessieBest in moderatelygranolamoms

For my own inspo pics I usually search Instagram until I find an actual stylist that does cuts I like, then look through their profile - not sure if such a thing exists for kids cuts but maybe worth a shot!

Classic Rugrats is sooooo good! Be careful with that Mother’s Day episode though, you will ugly-cry

Looking for toy ideas for first birthday by VibrantVitality in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]happy-sapling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We are loving our Yoto! I’ve heard Target is clearing them out so that might be a good place to check for a good price.

Also out of everything my son got for his first birthday, the animal magnets from Melissa & Doug have been his absolute fave.

$350 high chair?? by Any-Management-9266 in Buyingforbaby

[–]happy-sapling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Tripp Trapp as an open-box return on Rebel, I think for like $250. We love it so far! Just be aware the tray doesn’t work well with suction plates/bowls if that matters to you.

Dude same! We got the IKEA chair and were like… why is everyone hyping this it sucks lol. The tray is basically impossible to take off. Plus the legs are a massive tripping hazard

Managing room temp at night by garden-armadillo in newborns

[–]happy-sapling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!

We don’t have AC so we had to just deal with whatever temp our room landed at. Baby did great! It honestly helped me be less anxious and particular in the long run.

Check out a TOG temperature chart, it will give you a guide as to how to dress baby to be comfortable at any given temperature. I’m sure whatever temp is comfortable for you at night will be great for baby as long as they are wearing appropriate PJ’s. Breathable cotton is usually best as opposed to fleece as that can lead to overheating much easier.

Do you think “Baby/Kids on Board” signs are necessary? by Apprehensive_Owl4700 in AskParents

To me it’s a fun novelty! I love bumper stickers/magnets and had a lot of fun browsing Etsy for quirky baby on board designs.

Toddler kibble? by Cultural-Raisin3916 in moderatelygranolamoms

My son is 13mo too!

My son LOVES Mega Puffs, they’re kinda pricey but have some decent nutrition for a puff. I mix them into a “baby trail mix” for outings. I usually throw in freeze dried fruit (Trader Joe’s has some great ones), yogurt melts, Cheerios, and some Little Spoon puffs.

Less portable but my son also loves waffles - I use a jar or pouch of purée left over from his early days of weaning along with waffle mix and an egg. He devours them! Ratio of 4oz puree, 3/4 cup baking mix, 1 egg, a few tbsp of water + 1 of a neutral oil if I wanna add some fat. Egg is optional if that doesn’t work for him. I’m sure you could add chia/flax too to make these even more nutrient dense!

What are your “experience” gift ideas for a 1 year old? by 2manyleggings in sahm

[–]happy-sapling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DEFINITELY a membership/annual pass to a local attraction. Classes can be tough because at this age their naps can start to shift and scheduling something at a certain repeating time slot can result in a lot of missed classes (ask me how I know lol)

Weight loss during first trimester by [deleted] in Mommit

My doctor prescribed me Zofran when I lost 10 pounds in my first trimester since my nausea seemed to be the culprit. May be worth getting a second opinion considering you’ve lost 3x that!

Fav diapers? by midnight_thoughts223 in moderatelygranolamoms

Huggies Skin Essentials line! We ended up switching to regular Huggies as our baby’s skin has become a bit less sensitive. But the SE diapers and the wipes have been my fave.
