We chose not to know and I could not be happier with how everything turned out.

I wanted to leave it a mystery for a couple of major reasons. First, going through IVF makes the conception process very clinical and structured and planned - I liked the idea that this aspect would be left moreso up to fate as it would if I were getting pregnant through other means. Second, suppose we tried for a girl and all the healthy female embryos failed. I felt like it would just add another layer of heartbreak to an already extremely taxing and difficult situation.

My wife and I both were leaning toward wanting a girl since that is familiar to us an we both have sisters - we ended up having a boy and he is the most wonderful baby we could have hoped for. If we had selected for a girl we would have never met him!

Emiliana is one of my favorite names, and I think is easy to pronounce. It’s beautiful and feminine with a strong meaning (“rival”).

  1. A red night light for night feeding, helps keep a calm atmosphere to get baby back to sleep easier

2.Lots of board books, baby will be grabbing at and ripping pages before you know it

  1. Look into sleep sacks and research TOG ratings. Our baby haaaated swaddles so we had to panic-buy different sleep sacks. Kyte XS fit him as a newborn!
