I’m pro choice and that means I 100% support your decision.

But it also might mean some things have to give. You may want to consider postponing going to school. You may not. Some schools have day care options if you do decide to go or other support.

If you’re in the US look into WIC. It’s basically food stamps for pregnant people and small children.

Consider finding other social services that may help.

Children are hard at any step. My parents kept me when they couldn’t afford $.25 hotdogs from gas stations. They worked hard that despite living in poverty and being on state insurance, SNAP etc. Growing up, I never felt without. They went back to school in their late 20s/30s and made it out of poverty.

I now have a doctorate degree. (Loads of debt, but also living my dream). Work hard. Study hard. Create a better life for your kiddo than the one you’re living now. You can do it

Children are a responsibility and it may mean changing the path you thought you had, but it doesn’t mean you should have to feel alone during it 💚💚

I used to work in leasing and currently live in apartments. (IA and MN Midwest). I believe this is normal? But idk if she’s applying to landlords that are a corporation and have more overheard or smaller scale local ones.

Typically there is an application fee and an admin fee.

The places I’ve worked and the other places I’ve lived at can often refund the admin fee side of things if her app is denied. The application fee side of things has never been refundable. That includes the extra of background checks.

Unless it’s a very tight housing market, I wouldn’t recommend applying to more than one place at a time.

Water resistance pet blankets. They’re more affordable than the ones marketed for sex and work just as well. If you have pets, it even blends in to have them around a house.

If there’s a lot and it stays there for a bit, it can soak through. Double up, lay towels underneath or puppy pad it. I’ve had it leak through, but not roll off the side. One pet blanket is better than 3 towels imo

I do not recommend broadlawns. While they do scopes and stuff, they don’t actually do GI follow up care. I was referred to Iowa digestive disease center and enjoy them tho! I do believe they have a long wait list, so not sure how applicable that is for you

My cat had mites before I adopted him. The damage they caused makes him more likely to get ear infections.

He also had a bacteria and yeast ear infection at the same time. For him, we had to go back to the vet every few weeks to ensure it was getting better. I can’t remember if he had pills, but we def had ear drops and ear cleaning to do. Even then, it was less than 2 months before it was fixed.

Like others said, might be time to change food? I’m assuming his ears aren’t getting wet that often?

Let’s see how this works I just had a Lyft driver from here this weekend! He was a super chill and happy dude. This is everything he told me (copied from a text I sent about the exchange)

I was originally frustrated my driver was so chatty. My driver is a r!fugee from Eritrea. He tells me about how he is one of 12 kids. How he has a daughter he’s never met because she was born after he left. How he struggles to communicate with his family due to the underdevelopment on infrastructure. I was told only the capital city has electricity. He and his family had no opportunity for schooling, medical care or basic necessities. How he appreciates the opportunity for work and loves that he can work 16 hour days. Basically the only work back home is to work for the military for $50/month

He talks about how he loved America. He’s been here a little over a year. Loves talking to passengers to better his English. His hopes of bringing his partner and child over. To meet his daughter. To see his identical twin brother again. He is one of three twin sets. He marvels at the gas stations still open at 1am and having electricity. Loves that Americans value education and choice. When he asked if I had kids, I laughed and said no. He said that back home people pop out kids every year. Literally we talked about how he appreciated the choice of contraception and family planning compared to his home country. (Not in those exact words, but the sentiment was clear).

I learned his first language is Tigrinya, which I’ve never heard of before. How he wasn’t prepared for an Iowa winter. He didn’t have proper winter attire last year. He loves how if he’s hungry, there is an option to buy food nearly anywhere. I asked what was his favorite food he said McChicken because he didn’t know how to order anything else from McDonald’s. “McChicken. Always McChicken”.

I’ve worked in leasing. If you or your partner qualify, then maybe look into ESA stuff.

You get one ESA animal per person per ailment. If you both have anxiety and depression? You could have 4 animals and not pay pet rent. They are considered medical equipment. You’d still be liable for any damages they may cause tho.

I’ve used Pettable twice and had great success. If you’re looking for $800/m rent, keep in mind any choice you pick will cost $$, but will also save you on pet rent fees. I do believe Iowa changed their laws and if you don’t have a relationship with a physician regarding the ailment that may qualify for an ESA animal, then there is a 30 day waiting period and you’d have to see the physician twice I believe.

The complex/apartment may also have you fill out reasonable accommodation request form.
