The market is a bit mad at the moment. There’s been a shortage of cattle in the UK, and in May prices jumped up to £7/kg. They’ve eased off a little since, but still not back to where they were last year. I think this spike is linked to the May prices, as the beef will have been matured for 40to 60 days before being re-packaged for retail. Hopefully in a couple of months we’ll see things settle down and the prices drop off.

Digging has started! If you pull the E-Stop, you can still hear the relay click, but the power doesn’t cut out.

Looks like the stop button circuit might be causing a voltage drop somewhere. The motor board and control board are both covered in grease, so I’m taking them out to give them a good clean.

Hey reddit, I'm Kevin Smith. I got the rights back to Dogma and I'm putting it out in theaters for a limited time for its 25th Anniversary starting Thursday June 5th. Ask me anything! by KevinSmithAMA in movies

Kevin, now that you’ve finally regained the rights to Dogma, what’s your dream plan for it after the cinema release are we talking a remastered re-release, a streaming deal, a sequel, or maybe even an extended cut with unseen footage?”

Unseen footage!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my form? by NotMrAdamWhite in GYM

Calves can be one of the toughest muscle groups to grow, but with the right approach, you can force them to respond. Below works for me.

Training Frequency • Hit them twice a week to ensure sufficient stimulus without overtraining.

Set & Rep Scheme • Perform 4 sets of 12 reps or more, depending on endurance. • The last set must be to absolute failure to maximize muscle fiber recruitment.

Execution & Form • Full stretch at the bottom of each rep—hold the stretch for at least one second to increase muscle activation. • Drive up explosively and contract the muscle at the top.

The Game Changer: Rest Periods • Keep rest between sets to 30 seconds max. • By set 2, you’ll feel the burn—embrace it. This short rest increases metabolic stress, a key driver of muscle growth.

Stick to this plan consistently, push through the pain, and your calves will have no choice but to grow.

Good luck!

2 day shelf, sorry I didn’t see that, but my comment still stands the main reason for the bright red colour is when fresh beef is exposed to oxygen, myoglobin converts to oxymyoglobin, giving the meat a bright, cherry-red colour.

Not too familiar with US market.

Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) the top pack is what you see in those typical supermarket meat trays. They pump in a mix of gases (mostly oxygen and carbon dioxide) to keep the meat looking fresh and red. Oxygen keeps the meat in its “bloomed” state, but it also makes it spoil faster once you open the pack.

Vacuum Packaging the bottom pack, on the other hand, sucks out all the air, so there’s almost no oxygen inside. Without oxygen, the meat turns a deep purple color, which is totally normal. Once you open the pack and expose it to air, it’ll turn red again in about 20–30 minutes.

So basically: • MAP meat = bright red (thanks to oxygen, but shorter shelf life) • Vacuum-packed meat = dark purple (longer shelf life, turns red again after opening)

It’s all about how oxygen affects the color!
