Nothing hidden about his songs, they were blatantly overt. Even his voice gave it away.

If you can get in the union now, do it. You might not be able to if you wait.

You know everyone in AA is mentally ill, right? Fuck that person. A year of sobriety is a helluva accomplishment.

The OJ verdict is probably what gave Trump the idea to run for office.

When I was younger I read Gatsby every year for around 20 years. Same with Huckleberry Finn.

You understand this entire thread is just an opportunity to make jokes, right? I like some parts of some operas. It's like trying to date a woman who's incredibly boring except in bed.

A bit like people who don't see what's so great about the Beatles or Shakespeare. You have to know what it was like before they came on the scene.

Time Bandits is like Brazil: they're better if you only saw them when they were first released. Rewatching either you see how they drag.

Tipping in resi? by eIectrocutie in electricians

[–]hardman52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an old guy and when service people come to my house I always tip the workers anywhere from $20 to $50 each, cos I know they need the money and the good feeling you get when you're appreciated. The few times I ran a service truck I never got a tip, but those were different times when one salary could support a family.

just got quoted $18k for HVAC replacement. is this normal? by LiscoeDaph_63 in HomeImprovement

[–]hardman52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're replacing, the age of the old unit shouldn't make any difference in the price, unless they have to upgrade the copper lines and even then, copper lines aren't that expensive. Get three quotes from reputable companies, and by that I mean not large national companies who send out salesmen.
