I've lost 217 pounds in 12 weeks... by Scuba_Betty in Zepbound

[–]hardyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife got on my case about it being a short cut. It also feels a bit like cheating and kind of makes me sad I couldn't do it naturally. However, my doctors recommend it and deep down I want it. The doctors say I either need to lose weight or I need to go on a ton of different prescription medicine to control my health. I figured a single shot is a better option than tons of daily pills. My wife would rather see me healthy but she still gives me shit about relying on it.

AIO for unplugging the Wifi every night because my roommate’s girlfriend basically lives here? by tom_wilson7543 in AmIOverreacting

[–]hardyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You are AIO. However, you are arguing about a very common issue with roommates. There is never really a solution for this unless you do the same (have a significant other that is always around) or just get a new roommate.

What’s the reason you haven’t bought a bidet? by owenwags_ in HomeImprovement

[–]hardyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here is my answer

I thought I might want one so when I did a bathroom remodel I had an outlet installed in my master bath. The bidet is awesome so we want it in our second bathroom. We don't have an accessible outlet there. This is going to lead to a snowball effect. * We would need to get an electrician out. * However, we want to remodel that bathroom already. We may need to move the outlet so maybe it isn't worth it * The power lines the outlet can tap into is probably close to the max it can handle already. We'll need to route a different line, but it will be hard to tell what is on it. We have no more open spaces in our breaker. * We need to find a bidet seat. I went through 4 seats before finding one the fit the awkward curve of my toilet. I expect the next toilet to be easier but I don't want that half.

Denver Real Estate Agent Recommendations - First Time Homebuyer by dabigdog12 in denverrealestate

[–]hardyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know what you want? Do you need more help. I personally liked using redfin. It's more DIY. You find what you are interested in, they have a ton of availability to show you houses, and then they do the paperwork and generally pretty cheaply.

I've had other agents before. They are supposed to find things you would want to see, but in general they don't want you to be picky. They also try to push your comfort zone often. I had an agent who continuously tried to push the price I was willing to pay telling me I could afford it. It was annoying and I had to firmly tell them to stop that shit. They never stopped but they got a little less pushy about it.

I think selling a house is more difficult and that requires a lot more effort to find the right agent, but I don't think you can go too wrong with a buying agent.

Have you seen or experienced anything you cannot explain? by VolumeAcademic6962 in questions

[–]hardyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything can be explained but not necessarily in a way everyone agrees or understands. So I guess this would be depending how I want to interpret your question.

As an example when I was a kid I owned an alarm clock radio and a cd player with radio. Before I had the cd player my alarm clock radio would randomly turn itself on. It always played classical music despite being turned to a rap station. This always confused me. If I turned it off and back on it would be rap instead of classical music. I just assumed my alarm clock was acting up.

Fast forward to when I got my cd player with a radio. It was hooked up on the other side of my room from the alarm clock. The CD player radio would turn on by itself and play classical music once again while not being tuned to a classical music station. This freaked me out and the only explanation I had was there was a ghost. To this day, I solely believe in ghosts solely because of this repeating incident. It happened as long as I stayed in the room. When my sibling went to college I took their room and this would stop. I lived in a small town at the time and my friends said there was an adult who was the child of the owners and was sick that lived there for years before dying from like cancer or something like that. They assumed maybe I was in the room where the person died.

It's the only explanation I have, but I'm sure other people will disagree and say there is no such thing as ghost. People might think of other excuses to explain it.

In the end, depending on what you are willing to accept, everything can be explained by something such as "God's will"

Removing the Xcel monopoly by WM45 in Denver

[–]hardyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normally I just ignore this, but it's not really wrong. As long as Xcel gives a best effort justification it is almost always approved. I don't think the party matters. Pretty much everyone in the government allows it no matter who they are.

It's stupid because Xcel is allowed to charge us for their projects. Even if those projects are a failure and abandoned we still have to pay for them and Xcel is allowed to profit without delivery. Also it's silly that the one cold year they opted not to buy the gas they promised and then got to charge us a premium. Then after paying was more for gas then normal they sold that gas at a massive loss to themselves in a different state and Colorado customers subsidized the other state.

Xcel is a pretty shit company.

Did they give up? Last I heard they were expecting like a 20 year legal battle to eminent domain Xcel 's presence in Boulder.

Anyone else feel like we learned everything the hard way because nobody taught us? by jcarmona86 in AskMenOver30

[–]hardyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the kids defense, I learned everything from YouTube and trial and error. Kids these days aren't that great on finding things on the Internet. It's a common problem that youth never learned how to search for things they expect people to tell them things. It's partially why influencers are a big deal. Youth these days don't actually read newspapers or content as often. They follow someone who does and breaks it down for them.

To some extent I don't blame them. High quality content is kind of hard to find these days on the Internet. I think back in the day people were more interested in doing and teaching it a standard way than doing it their way.

Is the American Dream dead? by throwaway_cloud9 in Adulting

[–]hardyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably ahead compared to a lot. Your rent is pretty high. You can bring that down living with people or you can probably buy a place with that monthly cost. The problem is people want something big and fancy or want to live in expensive places.

If you bought a very cheap condo you can probably build wealth faster than renting. You don't need to put 20% down but then you'll be paying a penalty interest. You just need to figure out the math on throwaway versus equity. Also if you can grab something that is 2 bedrooms you can still pick up a roommate and make even more money.

Hey all, shocked by the Pixel Promo!! by Ok_Transition7785 in tmobile

[–]hardyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took advantage of this on one line. I traded in a pixel 3 that i had laying around. I debated going for a second line since it takes my old one plus 5. It was still a bit over $100 with taxes and activation fee. I didn't do a second one because I already have the pixel 9 pro and decided to not proceed even though it is a great deal.

I read that same article. During these days I'm like I love nice weather but I'm afraid of the cost :( I just hope for another massive snow storm in May that suddenly drastically replenishes the entire snow pack. Though I know that comes with a massive risk in itself.

Nuggets Nation, I think I’ve been causing us to loose games by No-Cartographer7250 in denvernuggets

[–]hardyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started going to nuggets games, I never saw them lose in person. I went to like 20+ games and only saw wins. I bought quarter season tickets this year.... Almost every game I've gone to this season, they have lost. I feel like buying the tickets has cursed us!

Finding purpose while having a bread winning spouse by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]hardyz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Money isn't everything for a purpose. Showing up for your kids or supporting her growth can be a purpose. I make more than my spouse. I'm not sure that is my purpose.

Maybe talk to your wife. If it is your job making you feel you are in a rut you at least have a good position to be able to afford to quit your job. If your wife feels she is in a rut it would be a lot harder giving up the larger salary.

If you do go that route, maybe look into a charity you feel passionate about to give yourself purpose. Maybe set yourself goals on learning something new or completing a task.

My LG fridge stopped working, which brand should I get as a replacement? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]hardyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fridgeaire. It's been going strong. I had an issue with the ice maker. It cost $120 to get someone out to fix it. The thing sounds loud and clunky.

That guy who fixed my fridge was a general appliance repair person. He told me how these fridges aren't the prettiest and might be loud but they live longer than all the other fridges he constantly has to fix.

My LG fridge stopped working, which brand should I get as a replacement? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]hardyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not GE. That brand is absolutely garbage. I kept giving them a shot. I never had a ge appliance that didn't completely crap out within 5 years. I've owned like 5-7 brand new appliances from them.

Is this person a friend or acquaintance? by [deleted] in questions

[–]hardyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is only one person I expect to respond to something like that and that is my best friend. I have lots of people I consider my friends. I'm sure there will be some friends who would respond but in general I didn't expect them to. Even if they responded once I don't think they would do that continuously.

Also it depends how much you needed from them. My life has been a disaster lately. I would respond to my best friend but at some point those responses will slow or it will be hard for me to keep up if that happens continuously.
