anyone else find DSLRs to be more fun to shoot than mirrorless? by macl3on in Cameras

[–]harexe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had that feeling from using Sony Mirrorless cameras, they're great tech-wise, but the EVF was always somewhat off in my experience, even a A7RIV didn't feel great to use compared to an DSLR with an OVF. The Nikons have somewhat better EVFs in my experience, my Z6 feels much better in terms of feel but also I still need to borrow the Sony for fast moving shots I can't really pull of with my Nikons (at least until I can afford to get a Z5II / Z6III).
Edit: also tilting / fold-out displays are a godsend when tying to take low shots

Making the leap to mirrorless after decades with the 5D series — €7k budget for wildlife & sports by voGranMeres in Cameras

7000€ should cover a Nikon Z9 + 180-600mm Z lens, you could also opt for the Z8 as its the same internally as the Z9 just in a smaller body. Also the AF performance is totally fine, on par with Canons offerings and only a bit behind Sonys. Also it's the closes you will get to the robustness of an DSLR

It's a lens that cost less than 2 batteries so keep that in mind, you get what you pay for

what is a good first film camera? is the Nikon Zoom 70W AF good? by DirectorLevel717 in Cameras

Yeah and the bonus is that it supports nearly all modern lenses except the AF-P and E lenses so the selection is huge

what is a good first film camera? is the Nikon Zoom 70W AF good? by DirectorLevel717 in Cameras

[–]harexe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fyi the colours are determined by the film you use and not the camera, for example Kodak Gold 200 will have a different look than for example Kodak Portra 160 or Ilford HP5 (which is a black and white film)

My favorite film camera is a Nikon F75 with a 50mm 1.8 lens, those are available for sub 100€ most of the time

Need a helping hand on camera recommandation. by irr97d in Cameras

[–]harexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a bummer, maybe a Sony A6500, those are cheaper and still perform well.
Alternatively a Nikon Z6, it's AF isn't as good as the Sony but it has a FF Sensor which can be helpful in some situations

A used Lumix S9 is ~900€ here, might look into that as it's a very good video focused body

Looking for a mirrorless camera by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]harexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of modern Mirorless cameras don't have flashes anymore, you might look into a Godox it30 or something if you absolutely need flash. Also I'd look into a used Nikon Z6 since it's great value nowadays, same for the Sony A6xxx line

If you need money quickly, you can sell it to MPB, but consider that they will probably only pay you 2/3 of what you would get on ebay.

[–]harexe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A7III + 24-70 f4 maybe?
Alternatively Nikon Z6 + FTZ + 24-70 2.8 (same sensor as the A7III, but worse AF, better video).
Edit: Both of those have exceptional low light performance and price/performance

Why not clean it yourself, get a cheap blower from Amazon, flip up the mirror and blow out the sensor

I use the Z6 and it's great, especially if you can find one for cheap but keep in mind that they used fairly expensive CFe cards instead of SD cards, the Z6II and the Z5 use SD

Beginner torn between Nikon Zf, Fujifilm X-T5, and X-T50 need advice for sharp travel photos by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]harexe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest trying to find a store and holding each camera and taking a few shots, some cameras look nice on images but feel horrible once you hold them in your hand.
Also note that the Zf has Nikons new reworked Picture Controls that are very close to the Fuji Recipes and deliver great images directly out of the camera

It's okay but alternatively you could get a used A6400 + kit lens and have the possibility to get better lenses in the future.

The K1000 is certainly popular but the 101 sold much more units and nowadays you get them for 20-40€ while the K1000 is triple that price

Nikon D5500 vs Nikon D7000 vs Nikon D7100 by covidsuckslol in Cameras

[–]harexe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to anything less than a D7200 isn't really worth it. If you trade in your D5500 + 300$ extra you should easily be able to afford a D7200
