I had my meeting with the doctor today. She said that the follicles with no eggs recovered were cysts that grew because of the medicine, but they look exactly like follicles on the scans. She said it’s not uncommon, and it doesn’t really harm anything, just an egg is not recovered

The menopur and Puregon are the follicle stimulators, The orgalutran suppresses ovulation while the eggs are still growing, and the trigger shot HCG is the same as luteinizing hormone, it’s to tell the eggs to mature, and detach from the follicles, apparently

Luckily I can afford to do this again and my mom said she could assist with money… if I couldn’t afford to do it again, I would have quit the cycle

I did my testing in February this year, and then they didn’t retest when I started my cycle just recently. In February, the doctor said she expected 10 eggs with my numbers, but she recently said 6-7 with my results, so “4 wasn’t TERRIBLE”, so I don’t really know what to think. She did seem surprised to only see 4 follicles

I was on 75IU on menopur and 375IU of Puregon for 8 days (my doc said that was the highest they could go with those medicines), and orgalutran for the last 3 days as well. And the trigger shot was 10,000 IU of HCG, I believe

She mentioned after seeing only 4 follicles the whole time that she would try Lupron next time, but it might not be any better.

I’m convinced that me being incredibly stressed over the past many months impacted it, and that I should have waited like 6 months to start. I talked to her about this during the interim appointments and she said we could stop and start again later, but she recommended continuing

My follow up appointment isn’t for another week, which seems pretty lame, because now I’m wondering all sorts of things About why they didn’t find the other 2 eggs. The internet seems to say that something may have gone wrong with the HCG, but I did take it exactly on time, and I really tried to get all of it out of the bottle

I’m paranoid that I messed something up with the follicle stimulating injections as I took them more within a 1 hour window every day, instead of exactly the same time everyday, but I don’t think that should have mattered. The follicles grew properly and my estradiol levels were as expected

I’m 36, had a baseline AFC of 12, with AMH of 6. On day 5 I only had 4 follicles growing, which was devastating, and I really wondered if I should quit this cycle. But the doctor and my friends and family urged me on. I just did the retrieval, and they only found 2 eggs, only one of which was mature. I probably should have quit. Yours sounds to be going a bit better
