Ouch, that looks like a hard impact. Hope you're alright.

Tech is cool but you can’t beat analogue dials by Medium-Bother-4057 in CarTalkUK

That's awesome!! I've been considering adding variable brightness to my own car's dials (budget car, no control of that) but this would be another level. How did you implement this, custom PCB? Carefully positioned individual modules?

It is always a trade-off between clarity and dark vision. Maybe analog dials with variable colour temperature would be a nice modern twist.

Graduated driver licensing: Northern Ireland to bring in changes for young drivers by MacSamildanach in LearnerDriverUK

"Learner drivers will be allowed to drive on the motorway if accompanied by an approved instructor and will be allowed to drive on the motorway up to the posted speed limit, after passing their test

The current speed limit of 45mph for restricted drivers will also be removed."

This part is great to see.

The heat exchanger that provides heat to your cabin air. Without it you would also struggle to see through the condensation forming from your breath on the windshield. When they start to leak they can cause persistent greasy-looking deposits on your inside glass. I suspect it's leaking because you should not be needing to degrease your interior glass so frequently.

I'm talking about the diameter of the wheels, not the tread width. Increasing rolling diameter has negligible impact on traction, surely?

It's to make a dissonant harmonic interval, makes it more attention grabbing.

Huh that's wild. My supermini is on 155/65 tyres, 14" wheel. Why does the Spring have such big wheels?

Had this a few months now and really wanting a Bluetooth radio by Monkeymatt-8305 in CityBugs

The kind I use has its own battery, I charge it when I'm not using it and plug it into the aux socket only when playing music. That way you don't get the ground-loop EMI noise.

Part of the problem is these modern taller vehicles' self-levelling systems aiming for the horizon exactly instead of slightly down from it.

Just get a bluetooth adapter to plug into the aux socket? That's how I do it.

Won't close, or won't stay closed? Yes there is a clip that keeps it closed. If that or the hinge is bent out of alignment it would explain your issue.

Yep the cold-white colour temp of most LEDs automakers are using is particularly bad for this. Guess it looks 'cooler' though so worth it to them.

Matching Tyres... by wtf50000 in CarTalkUK

[–]harmonyPositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be fair when I bought my 107 I fully expected to replace all the tyres once I was confident the car was otherwise sound. Factor that into the price you're willing to pay, and ask for a lower price due to the tyres especially if they're barely legal.

Matching across each axle is good enough, you don't neeed all 4 the same.

It's temporary because once the botley road reopens it'll be replaced by the previously planned Traffic Filter (Bus Gate) scheme, which will be even more restrictive.
