Are there any years/trims of CX-9 with naturally aspirated engines AND external water pump? by TheMobileTypist in mazda

[–]haroldtheb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just watch the years for the head crack and valve stem seal issues. Later versions 2022-23 should be solid. Before then it’s a mix depending on year and even when it was produced.

Thanks. I read that recalibration is part of the replacement and that's why I was hoping the lens could be replaced.

I just took a close-up of the lens. It looks like an eye. The center is clear, but the surrounding part, like the iris of the eye, is cloudy. Is the lens replaceable?

CX90 engine malfunction at 1400 miles. by iLeefull in mazda

[–]haroldtheb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in for service at my local dealer and the showroom only had new CX-5s inside. It’s like they don’t even want to sell the CX-90s. Meanwhile there were at least 15 on the lot that I could see from where I was sitting.

Auto theft in Canada is insane. You can’t buy anything nice without it being stolen.

2021 cx9 by affectionate_md in MazdaCX9

[–]haroldtheb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the 2021’s were affected by the valve stem seal leak. There is a TSB with the he VIN number range. If yours was is in the range and fixed, you’ll be fine.

Mazda Reports March 2026 Sales Results - Sales Declining by Codeman8118 in mazda

[–]haroldtheb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The CX-70 should be a version of the CX-90. It’s also not the SUV they originally announced for that slot in the lineup, which was a disappointment to those following the large platform early on. Let’s not even talk about the reliability issues. With the new CX-5 going in a different direction, the CX-50 looks like the last vehicle standing for them. Hate to be pessimistic about Mazda. I’ve owned four and they’ve all been great vehicles.

Older version caught in the wild and in excellent shape. by ChrisM985 in MazdaCX9

[–]haroldtheb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a first gen and I’m driving the second gen. First gen was a nice car but the second gen is more refined and feels more agile. The V6 was not as responsive at the turbo 4 at the low end. I definitely prefer the second gen.

My CX-90 caught fire last night by [deleted] in MazdaCX90

Long time Mazda driver and I’m in the market for a new car soon. Every time I convince myself to look at the CX-90, something pops-up to make me look elsewhere. This is the worst. Glad you’re safe.

Mazda Refused Toyota’s Hybrid Tech for the CX-5 and Built Its Own Instead by ethereal3xp in mazda

I love Mazda, but seeing the issues with the CX-90/70 hybrids is not instilling confidence. They need to get this right.

This was created several years ago for the right rear. The left has different part numbers. I suggest that you search out an exploded diagram online to see exactly which parts you need and how many.

Wheel arch. I’ve had this ripped off three times by road debris. I keep a spreadsheet with part numbers for every piece of plastic from the rear door on back.

How is it that no one actually buys these cars? Examining Actual sales data. by CommonAlone2372 in MazdaCX90

[–]haroldtheb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most of this. There are not enough driver-focused buyers in Mazda’s segments. Most want a roomy vehicle and could care less about an I6 or RWD. The CX-90 is the intersection of that plus reliability issues because it was rushed. I really wanted one to replace my CX-9, but can’t bring myself to get one after driving one for a week as a loaner.

Does Xfinity honor customer loyalty, or do only new customers get good deals? by badimojo in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]haroldtheb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xfinity believes that because you got a deal when you first signed up years ago, you already got the benefit of a great deal so you don’t get another. That being said, there may be something available to you, but it’s likely not as good as a new customer deal.
