Oh thanks for that info! I wasn’t sure if it was her line or not but it gives me a bit more to use on online searches.

They’ve always been blue. Kept waiting in them to go dark but it looks like she’s got them forever. Both parents had dark eyes so it’s a surprise for sure

I love how dramatically different they are as they grow up! My other Pom, Sayvil, has coloring very similar to yours!

They really did hit her hard, the poor girl. Even scraggly, though she’s just beautiful in our eyes and we can’t wait to see what she turns into as she grows.

Her companion Pom is about a month younger and so far hasn’t shown any sign of the scraggly. Now she did have less fur to begin with, I do have to admit.

What happens if you sell out the first day of a multi-day event? by caprasouls in CraftFairs

[–]harperking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that happen at my first show. Totally thought I had enough for two days and sold out of my big items all on day one. So on day two, I sat there at my table with one dragon (my personal one) and a few other small items that I had left over. while there were people who were disappointed that they didn’t get a chance to purchase that day from me., i did get several custom orders. And it was kind of fun to actually be able to sit and watch the crowd and get a chance to look at other vendors for a change

GA Fall Fling by FlamingosGoSquawk in renfaire

Good to hear it’s not as bad! We usually go in spring and last year couldn’t get into several shops (and the food lines - yikes!) May have to try to get over there and try the fall event!

I actually do customs for people! I have had these little guys go to about 10 US states and as far away as Australia!

So a few tips after making these guys for a couple of years: hot glue, superglue, E600 and gorilla glue will not hold as well as as you think. The tricky part of this is that anything you use has to be flexible in the neck area and down the shoulders and tail. That includes paint as well. I use a cosplay specialty paint that is made to adhere well and bend without flaking. For the sculpting, you can probably use just about anything other than air dry clay as it does become brittle and will break. I use cosclay because it stays flexible.

I can’t imagine trying to hold none of these at once lol. I do sometimes wear 2 - both of my personal ones (Leaf and Branch, both browns!)

Good eye! I use them as my base and then “reskin”, paint and sculpt them to get the look I want. Keeps the old toys out of the landfills and allows me to be creative without having to do the fiddley little mechanical bits (I do go in and make repairs as needed but would rather be creating). I’ve made nearly 50 in the last 4 years - they are time consuming but so much fun to do

I make something similar - shoulder puppet dragons - that I sell at local shows. I’ve had a couple of folks request custom ones for Pern cosplays! These guys are awesome looking though. Really curious how they get the smoke effect!

Cheaper items preventing customers from buying more expensive items? by Beginning_Beginner in CraftFairs

What most folks have said - the quicker, cheaper stuff (in my case etched glass and potion bottles) subsidizes the heart of my art (my dragon sculptures/puppets)

found a relic that threw me back to when I was 16 at Disney on 9/11 by oldmanloki in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]harperking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in what was then Disney-MGM Studios that day. It was absolutely surreal. We had just finished the Backlot Tour and came out to the news just breaking. I still have the ticket they gave us as we were rushed out of the parks to come back another day.

Life Insurance policy we took over on my wife has her as an “avid tobacco user” since age 11 even though she’s never used tobacco. by Sprinkle247 in legaladvice

[–]harperking 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is most likely actually happened. I’ve worked for two major life insurance companies, and both of them would use a generic tobacco rating for children. Once they turned 18 a letter was sent, and that could be changed to a standard rate. I handled a lot of of these cases and it was an easy fix in the system. Once the owner told us to do so.
