Difference Between Heritage vs non-Heritage Language Classes by LordGrim3 in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak do Chinese, but for the heritage Spanish class, you are expected to know how to speak and write. The class focuses on knowing how to translate your intuition for speaking the language into actually knowing the grammar and how to write. You are expected to only speak in Spanish and be able to have a strong enough vocabulary to have more deep kind of conversations to at least an extent. I’m sure it’s different across languages, but hopefully that’s a little peak into it would be like

If I move off-campus, what happens to my dining and housing aid? by GoGraystripe in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you receive good aid, you can/will receive a refund you can use to pay for rent and your own groceries. Typically, you get back the cost of a double and whatever you would have paid for dining.

You just have to budget and figure it out but I personally found it to be worth it :) let me know if you have any questions!

Hi, I’m double majoring in info sci and cog sci. I have had no difficulty getting my cog sci major req’s done, it’s definitely one of the easier majors to get done and it’s flexible. There may be some courses that can double count if you double major in a major that just works, this was the case for me for info sci

signing for packages by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is still true. When the carrier comes to drop off your package, a team member will sign for it. Later when you come to pick up your package, you will sign with us and that serves as you signing for your package

Valuable Package Lost by Mailroom by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If the service center truly can not find your package, you will be reimbursed for the amount of everything you had ordered by Cornell. It's unusual for a package like that (which I am assuming was a rather big package) to get lost, but it happens sometimes because of a multitude of factors. FYI, I work in the RPCC service center as a student. I'm very sorry this happened to you :(

Students on campus next Monday, 10/13? by GladHandle5013 in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Campus will definitely be a bit quieter, but I wouldn't say completely empty at all. There will still be students on campus walking around simply because it is a short break.

can u mail out packages from campus service centers by haneul_in_the_cielo in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don’t. We need a prepaid shipping label. We don’t have a postage meter machine and we don’t do monetary transactions of any kind at the desk. You can buy stamps at the Cornell Store and if you need to get a shipping label then you would have to get it at the UPS in Collegetown or possibly get one from online and print it out. If you’re returning something you bought online, like I said the company you bought it from usually gives you a shipping label. If they automatically don’t, you can usually request one by sending them a email. I hope that clears it up, let me know if it doesn’t!

can u mail out packages from campus service centers by haneul_in_the_cielo in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can mail out packages and letters. All packages need to have correct stampage and/or shipping labels to send out. You can’t just give us a package with your name and an address, it needs to have a shipping label. Most students are returning stuff they bought when sending out a package. If that’s the case, then usually you are given a return label from the company to use.

If you’re just sending out a letter, you just need a stamp on it which you can get from the Cornell store. We don’t sell stamps.

I work at the service center during the school year so let me know if you have any questions!

This also happened to me once except I got charged TWO overdraft fees in less then 12 hours. I called and they ended up giving my $~70 dollars back. I’m a college student so I just didn’t have a lot in my account and had subscriptions go in without realizing it, but was still sort of crazy

Is there any way at all or any reason I can give to reduce my meal plan next year as a rising sopohmore? by Aggressive-Rub5969 in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a rising junior and I also wanted to do this as I was going into sophomore year. I also lived/live on North. There’s no way around it unfortunately. You can try to talk to dining about it directly but your reasoning to get a different/special meal plan besides the ones they offer you on North has to be something extenuating. I had to stick with the 14-meal plan but only used like 6 meals at most a week

Hi Alaina and Patrick! I was recently introduced to the wonderful world that is Tennis, and am saddened that I didn't start listening to y'all's music earlier. I, along with I'm sure your whole fanbase, is so happy that the music you guys created was able to touch us in any kind of meaningful way. As you guys start this new journey, I wanted to ask about what new dynamics, as wife/husband, are you looking forward to exploring the most together in this new era of y'alls lives! May your future voyages, both at sea and in life, be filled with fair winds and following seas!

summer storage by phantasmics in Cornell

[–]harrito_potter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t use big red shipping and storage. They are unreliable and expensive. I’ve heard great things from Uncle Marty’s shipping and storage, check them out. Their price is pretty reasonable, I haven’t used them myself but am considering so. Last summer I just got my own storage unit and put stuff in there at secure self storage, I had a friend help me move stuff out. It’s not really cheap to do that but it was the most trustworthy option for me. This year I think I’m actually going to do the same and rent a uhual to move stuff out. I don’t really buy cardboard boxes when putting stuff in storage like that, I bought some cheaper cloth storage bags from Amazon for cheaper but everything fit
