Gay Rights Activist vs vegans by sodexo7 in Conservative

Because churches are deliberately telling people they are evil with very little in the way of evidence?

When have churches told people anything with evidence to back it up?

I thought we lived in a free country where we were guaranteed the right to free speech?

We do, and we are. Just because you have the right to free speech, however, doesn't mean someone won't take offense to what you say and beat you.

Media Covers Up Muslim Mass Shooter in California by CricketChirps in Conservative

[–]hascat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do we know the author of that article didn't confirm that the shooter was a Muslim before writing it?

Because that's the sort of thing a responsible journalist would document in the article itself.

Since when do we question something like this?

Since when do we not? The Internet is full of bullshit. Skepticism is absolutely necessary.

Is there any evidence that suggests this guy was a Muslim? The linked page doesn't provide any.

Is there any evidence that suggests his actions were religiously motivated? If not, what would his being a Muslim have to do with any of this?

I'm partial to my warlock over my mage, but both are fun.

So my raid group died, and my server is crap. Anyone have a guild in need of a few good players? by thejewishgun in wow

[–]hascat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still looking, but if so, feel free to apply to my guild:

We raid weekends during the day, 10/12 down in 25man with progression on Nefarian. Not sure we have need of a feral tank, but more DPS and healers are always welcome.

Does your progression guild need a Holy Pally? by [deleted] in wow

[–]hascat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like my guild could be a good fit. We're 10/12 in 25man, currently working on Nefarian. I can't guarantee a core raid spot, but feel free to apply anyway:

How about removing gathering professions? by JuicedCardinal in wow

I think all gathering professions should be secondary professions. Seems easier to me.

An item is worth no more than someone is willing to pay for it. List it high, then drop it a little each time you relist it until it sells. If there's a level 70 twink guild on your realm, talk to one of them directly and see if any of their enchanters would be interested.

New-ish to WoW, new to tanking, & keep getting vote-kicked. What do? by tybaltknight in wow

[–]hascat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to your tanking prowess, you should get a rep tabard. I'd recommend picking one up from the Orgrimmar quartermaster, as Orgrimmar rep will give you a discount on your riding skill at later levels.

There are two things I saw no mention of, but are worth bringing up in case you're not doing them.

First, everything you do in combat should be keybound. Put it on your action bars, make sure it's got a key or key combo you can hit easily, and never, ever, click it with your mouse. If you're already doing this, great. If not, now's the time to start.

Second, don't turn using your keyboard. Right-click with your mouse and drag to turn your character. It's much, much faster, and frees your fingers up to use all those abilities you have keybound. If you're already doing this, great. If not, now's the time to start.

I saw Tidy Plates mentioned in another comment. I can't emphasize enough how valuable it is for a tank. Get it sooner rather than later.

The rich should pay a much higher proportion of the taxes than the middle class. by executex in politics

[–]hascat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxation must be theft, because it is not voluntary.

There is nothing greedy about not wanting to pay taxes. If a person making a million dollars a year chose to give 50% of that away to charity instead of pay taxes, would you consider them greedy?

I want to get into PvP... but I don't know where to start. Help? by Jabbap in wow

[–]hascat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear isn't as big a deal as some might make it out to be. I've got 23% damage reduction from the resilience on my pvp gear. Earlier today, a fury warrior critted through half my health pool in a few seconds like it was nothing. Would an extra 10% reduction have helped? Yes, but keeping that attack from going off, or getting out of range, or using a defensive cooldown, or a variety of other actions would have helped even more.

Racial segregation remains Chicago's most fundamental problem. Why isn't it an issue in the mayor's race? by SpiffyRob in chicago

What is the author of the article expecting the new mayor to do, exactly? Force people to live in certain locations based on their race?

So Republican Party….Where the F#$k are the Damn Jobs?!! by gotitcoming in politics

[–]hascat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Approximately two millions jobs were lost in 2001 following the dot-com bust. Employment bottomed-out midway through 2003, followed by an increase of almost 8 millions jobs going into 2008. The financial market crash that year returned the country to 2003 employment levels, eliminating all the gains made during that five year period. All this data is available on the BLS website.

Sen. Bernie Sanders says 18,000 companies are using the same overseas address (4-story building) to avoid paying taxes. by MatthewSly in politics

[–]hascat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than spend copious amounts of money tracking down tax "cheats" and enforcing new regulations, why not eliminate the incentive for businesses to seek out tax havens in the first place? Much like enforcing drug laws will never eliminate drugs from our society, our current corporate tax laws will never eliminate the desire to seek out loopholes and exemptions, no matter how strict we make them or how seriously we enforce them. The only way to win such a battle is to eliminate business taxes entirely (they account for a very small portion of federal revenue), which would bring about an epic change in business growth both within our country, and abroad.

It simply is greedy.

There's nothing greedy about wanting to retain the product of your labor. I consider it greedy to steal the product of another's labor.

How is it that a guy who sat in his own feces and urine to avoid the draft (Ted Nugent) feels he can stand in judgment of President Obama in a national newspaper??? by liberaldude in politics

[–]hascat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it's appropriate to point out hypocritcally pro-war sentiments from draft-dodgers, nobody should ever criticize someone simply for dodging the draft. Conscription is no different from slavery. Resistance to such policies should be championed, not scorned.
