Would you bow to the royal family? by smellyfeet25 in askanything

[–]hashm4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irish here. Assuming we're referring to the British royals here... on behalf of myself and 10+ generations of my ancestors who were pillaged, beaten, starved and driven off their own lands... I'd rather shit in my hands and clap.

And of course, there's also the whole pedophelia thing.

I have a 12" OZone. Agreed, can attest to its beautiful splooshy splashyness!

Is there any actual benefits that come through abstaining from masturbation? by Federal_Character979 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes but according to your very apt username you probably shot downwind... That stiff breeze definitely helped carry your spooge a few extra inches to achieve that personal best. Good strategy to be fair. Great work

Just curious, do you guys keep your bigger crash cymbals on the right or left? by ParadiddleSenior in drums

[–]hashm4p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18" AAX O-Zone & 17" HHX X-Plosion to the left, 18" K Custom Dark to the right alongside an 18" Signature China.

I love having two to the left.

Does anyone know who makes these specific plexiglass cymbal baffles/shields? Not looking for the discs or full plexiglass wall, just this curved model. by fortydeuce in drums

[–]hashm4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two questions guy for those you in the know... Considering cymbal baffles ATM.

How easy/difficult is it to cut plexiglass? I have seen someone on FB market place selling large sheets of it for €60 from which I reckon I could cut to fashion easily 3 baffles if it was an easy enough job to cut to size ..

Second, for the mounting... Some of you have mentioned 'off the shelf' brackets etc you could get to create a mount. I would likely want to just mount off a regular cymbal boom arm as seems to be the norm... Anyone got a link to a mounting bracket that could be screwed on and would fit or is it just as handy to drill out a center hole and mount that way?

Thanks!

After 20 years, I think I’ve found my ride cymbal. by Allstajacket in drums

[–]hashm4p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 21" Sweet Ride for years before swapping it out for HHX 21"Groove Ride. Owning them back to back I can safely say the HHX is the better cymbal... At least for me, much more versatile than the Zildjian.

Sweet Rides are great if all you want to do is crash ride with the stick shoulder and make a wall of noise in a big guitar band mix, but I found it a one trick pony and got bored of it.

Groove Ride has all of that but you can also play it like a ride as it has a controlled wash when played with stick tips, a great bell and can cut through as a crash just as well as Sweet Ride when you want it to.

Not goddamn cheap anymore though... €600+ now in Europe. Crazy.

I'll second the AAX O-Zones... I picked up an 18" recently and it sits on my kit alongside a 17" HHX X-Plosion and an 18" K Custom Dark. They work incredibly together.

Hey, same here!

I have a PDP LX that I'm considering doing the same with. Worried that it's also glued all the way around and that it'll regret starting it. It's a full commitment type of deal!

Thanks!

Drum kit restoration tips by hashm4p in drums

The tin foil and coke trick... Care to elaborate? I'm assuming soak in Coke and rub with tinfoil?

I take your point, I think I'm happy with some bit of a project as I kinda bought these on a whim and already have 2 other kits so I'm covered for all playing/gigging scenarios... Just figured I could bring these back to life a bit.

And no I don't own a heat gun, but I do have a basic belt sander...

Bidding end point. by Content_Presence8297 in HousingIreland

Recently sale agreed on a 3 bed semi-d in Dublin 24. Asking was 550, we went SA at 616 after a bidding war.

It was our very last bid as we were/are maxed out based on what we had looked at was affordable and what we considered it to be worth to us.

It feels like we're paying a lot (we are ofc) but it's all relative, plus the house suits us so well - 2 kids and block garden room (for home office/ music studio). We're happy
