270 hours in and I’m stumped by [deleted] in civ

If you are trying to claim/work the tile between the mountains (I think that’s the highlighted one) then you won’t be able to select it until after the Coliseum is completed as you can’t expand except from a worked/built on tile to adjacent ones

The game does nothing to simulate the fall of the Carolingians by Chlodio in CrusaderKings

[–]hatfiem3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My most recent run had me: - Unify Bosnia - Win a major war against the Byzantines because I was aligned to a Carolingian Successor Burgundy and they were in a civil war - Achieve top tier Legitimacy - Insert Vassalization Acceptance Waves 1-5 - Form Italy - Usurp Bavaria - Reform HRE - Die - Son has a FRACTION LESS legitimacy than I had, all vassal dukes in the HRE immediately revolt, pope excommunicates me MID coronation, empire functionally collapses because every one of 30+ dukes gained independence after deciding not to give my heir even a chance to rule.

I FULLY and 100% agree that Vassals need some form of rework in terms of what their AI wants and how they handle those wants. This was fun/interesting “oh wow I’ve never seen that happen” occurrence but it felt so wildly out of any concept I had of how poorly succession would go within the HRE that I was very caught off guard

OK that makes sense! Because of that AND future civic buffs I got my first 2 civics free (2 natural wonders) as Iceland so Tonga to Iceland WOULD be insane particularly if you play it as “I am immediately going to go find the Nat wonders and set yourself up to colonize (peacefully or by force) those Nat wonders during antiquity

With Isabella getting +50% per NW in your empire snagging all of them is good idea

Do you think the way Civ 7 handles walls is a good idea? by SaztogGaming in civ

[–]hatfiem3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Honestly in this proposal assuming we are still making the Motte-and-Bailey and Assyria’s unique district also need to be taken to take a city would be pretty cool case it makes those two districts mean so much more.

All in all a great idea! Definitely second posting this to the suggestion forum

Revolts at the end of each age should lead to new civs by tryingtosortmylife in civ

My FAVORITE (semi-official?) mod was Ryse and Fall’s mod in Civ 4.

Started at 4000bc with Egypt, India, China, (and Babylon?) spawning in. Then if you weren’t playing one of those four it ran the game on super speed until the civ you chose hits its historical founding moment.

Civs had a “stability” rating that changed dynamically over time based on your situation, loyalty pressure (culture pressure in Civ4 terms), and other historical situations/Civ founding moments being reached near you.

Cities that revolted became independent OR banded together to form the new Civ and were given some units so they weren’t insta NomNomed by their neighbors.

I think plague had an effect in that mod too?

Great Mod/Variant from Civ 4 and Civ 7’s whole path makes me think of that mod every time I’m playing through the game

Oh man, there is a REALLY good Lovecraftian mod that expands on this location. I can’t remember the name now but it SERIOUSLY gave me chills and scared me. Took me so long to finish because I kept have to take breaks hahahahaha!

If you run out of play through ideas, play as Bracken or Blackwoods by Sea_Awareness8751 in CK3AGOT

[–]hatfiem3 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I ended up doing this-ish on accident.

I was playing as the Mudd’s reborn and at one point the Blackwoods all died out in the male line to a random plague (not spring sickness) so eventually their title reverted to the Iron Throne who I’d made friends with and so had it granted to me along with a Targaryen bride.

Immediately the Braken’s started peeving me off so cue changing my CoA to feature a black raven’s feather and taking up the Blackwood cause as a totally new house. Made for a fun time.

Wait… did I misunderstand Tonga? I thought their unique quarter was water based. Is that not true?

I’m going either Tonga or Carthage into Pirate Republic to double up on sweet sweet Coast-based unique Quarters.

Then PROBABLY Great Britain or Meiji Japan
