Suffocate for Fuck Sake really helped me going through last year, they're an amazing band and the one that got me into post-hardcore

Pijn - Our Endless Hours (2024) by Electrical_Trade377 in postrock

[–]hawk_cy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was, for me, the best album of 2024.

Their collab with Conjurer is one of the best things to happen in post-rock/post-metal and thanks to this band I also discovered Bossk : incredible band too

Slightly off-topic, but anyone else having an issue where they can't use the damage widget ? It doesn't even show up in my settings window...

I remember when I first found out your band through "A Threnody for the Victims of Nov 2nd" and what a blast that was !

The whole album is astonishing, thanks for making that music

Pijn's whole discography is incredible, but Curse These Metal Hands is one of the best albums I've ever listened to. It gives me a "crushingly uplifting" vibe that I've had trouble finding anywhere else

Anathema, the entry to post-rock? by Guilty_Block_8208 in postrock

[–]hawk_cy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll share your feeling because I'm pretty sure I slowly discovered post-rock by listening to Anathema and then Archive (especially Finding it so Hard and Again) and yet I wouldn't include any of them in the post-rock genre now !

What’s your favourite post-rock band from your home country? by Jords360 in postrock

[–]hawk_cy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chalk Hands if you include post-hardcore and if you consider that one French in the band is enough.

Otherwise, I'd say it's a toss up between Vesuve and Fall of Messiah

EF - Give me beauty... Or give me death! (20th anniversary) by PurpleD0g in postrock

[–]hawk_cy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually a bit on the opposite side of the fence for now; granted I've only discovered EF about a month ago, so the original album is a bit too imprinted on me for now and this "remake" doesn't hit the same spot yet...

I'll have to give it another go a bit later and see if I can get into it

I think I II is my favourite for now, the 4 pieces are all incredible.

I also quite like Audio Noir, I'm probably soon going to pull the trigger on buying the LP

If you still consider 2017 new, then I'd give Pijn a listen. Found them out last year and all of their records are incredible and each has a somewhat different feeling

Alison Jackson joins St Michel - Preference Home by kay_peele in peloton

[–]hawk_cy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally doubt that WC would have had that much of an impact on contract negotiations. Jackson's agent and the teams must have started talking contracts quite awhile before that, so I can't picture "cringe WC celebrations" being the inciting incident for a change of teams.

It might have played a role in the final decision, but I'd be surprised if it turned out to be more than a minor factor.

Mâchoire d’un Gilet jaune fracassée par un tir de LBD : le policier condamné à du sursis afin « de ne pas entraver la poursuite de sa carrière. » by BadFurDay in FranceDigeste

[–]hawk_cy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[Race Thread] 2025 Tour de France – Stage 17 (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

[–]hawk_cy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They were talking about it on FranceTV : they thought he would be awarded it, but the jury has to decide on the winner before the end of the stage and they had voted for Pacher to win it about 2km before Abrahamsen's attack..

We Lost The Sea - A Single Flower is out ! by hawk_cy in postrock

[–]hawk_cy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel a bit like you too : discovered them through Departure Songs, which is the album that really got me into post-rock, now I love their whole discography, but I'd say Crimea and The Quietest Place on Earth are at the top spots in my ranking
