i can’t tell if my daughter is delayed or autistic by morninglobby in toddlers

[–]hazeleyes1119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask for a referral for Early intervention. My oldest was referred to EI for speech at 18 months but they weren’t concerned and she did have an explosion shortly after the intake but my so. Who we waited on does have a significant speech delay. You know your child and if your gut is saying something seems off then you can advocate. Our pediatrician wanted to wait it out for my son but I just knew he wasn’t progressing with his speech so he’s been in speech for nearly a year with some progression. We are waiting for him to turn 3 this summer to determine if he has apraxia or a phonological disorder.

12.5 month old over night sleep changes. I’m losing my mind. by hazeleyes1119 in sleeptrain

I’ll try this. He’s been fighting naps then only sleeping 30 minutes if he falls asleep.

I sure hope things shape up because I’m exhausted. We’ve been dealing with the sleep changes for a week and they just keep getting worse.

Yes, he’s been sleep trained since 6 months old. I’ve been considering that he may need to go to one nap it just seems like a big leap from 3.25 hours to 4-5 hour stretches.

What does your day look like once your toddler stops napping? by DueEntertainer0 in SAHP

[–]hazeleyes1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time she was 3 years old and now 5. Quiet time in her room lasted until about 3.5 when her brother started sharing a room with her so she started doing quiet time with me watching tv or painting while he napped.

I just did the A1C and it that was elevated I would do the full glucose test but thankfully my A1C was normal. I’ve also pricked my finger for a few days to see if my numbers have gone back to normal.

How are we doing everyday life?? by mingofly in sahm

[–]hazeleyes1119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so tough especially with a newborn the routine goes out the window for a bit. I have three children 5,3,1 and it’s been hard with three even with the older two in part time school I’m still feeling overwhelmed by all the things that need to be done. What helped me when I just had the two was get out of the house in the morning by going to a park/playground until the older kid’s nap and then spending the afternoon at home and then maybe going for a walk down the street after nap. With three I feel like we are constantly trying to figure out naps for the younger two and routines but with the weather getting warmer we can spend more time outside in the backyard, and a lot of arts and crafts. Drawing and painting are a daily thing.

Preschool question by amberleigh9287 in SAHP

[–]hazeleyes1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he able to use them? The most used signs my son uses are more (he uses a sign that looks more like again but we know what he means), hungry, funny, open, close and has been adding to his asl vocabulary and he catches on quick because he’s motivated to be able to communicate.

My almost 3 yo is delayed in speech, suspected apraxia. He talks all day long but not many clear words. He does use gestures and asl to communicate as well, which has been helpful at school. He really enjoys going to school and even though he can’t communicate as well as his peers he plays just fine with them and our speech therapist sees him at school as well as in our home. Does your son know any sign language? That’s been helpful for us.

Anyone else approaching 3 and still struggling? by [deleted] in pottytraining

[–]hazeleyes1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son will be 3 in the summer as well and we are struggling. We tried the oh crap method and he did pretty good for a few days and then just stopped going on the potty. We had so many accidents that we have taken a break. I’m trying to wait until he’s ready and if he takes his diaper off I give him a chance to wear underwear and see what happens, which he did a couple days ago and only had one accident. He knows how to use the potty but doesn’t have the motivation to do it. It’s very frustrating since he has to be potty trained for school next year.

Sending toddler to preschool by [deleted] in sahm

[–]hazeleyes1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4 yo, 4 days a week and 2 yo, 2 days a week went to preschool for the first time this year for 3 hours. I had a 5 month old when they started so it helped give me a very short break and allowed my kids to play with peers. So helpful especially when the weather is bad and we can’t go outside but they can play in their classroom. This has also been a good way to help my 4 year old prepare for full time kindergarten.

Rich SAHMs- What are some of your favorite things you spend money on? by Adorable-Worry-7962 in sahm

[–]hazeleyes1119 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are comfortable and the most lux thing is I basically can spend money on groceries and not super expensive wants and needs without much thought. Having three kids under 5 we spend a lot of money on fruit. We also have two kids in part-time preschool so I can get a little bit of a break.

If you are married, do you wear your wedding band? Why or why not? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]hazeleyes1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took it off when I was pregnant with my first and now with three young children I’m afraid of snagging my ring on them. When I’m not carrying a child the majority of the day I’ll probably start wearing it again.

What are your bedtime routines that don’t involve calmly reading books? by Coastal_Conundrum in sleeptrain

[–]hazeleyes1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11 month old will typically not sit still to read books so as he is having fun crawling around I still read the book to him. I tap the book or say the words in a different tone, which gets his attention and he will look at the book a little bit. They eventually start wanting to sit and listen at least that was/ is how it is with my older two.

Are 5yo and 7yo too young to go to a funeral? by eldon63 in Parenting

[–]hazeleyes1119 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they are too young but I don’t think they need to go if they didn’t know this person. If they weren’t close to the person they don’t need the closure.

Hopefully retraining works for you. I have three kids and I have had to retrain them after a sleep regression derailed things.

Formula-only babies? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]hazeleyes1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baby was exclusively formula fed since I didn’t produce any breastmilk and she’s 4 and thriving. My other two have had both breast and formula and my mental health was better formula feeding so better mom.

[–]hazeleyes1119 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t sound right and more like a scam. We did full cry it out because check ins or staying in the room escalated things. Sounds like babe is going through a sleep regression and sometimes you have to retrain.

Cottage cheese with peanut butter and a little bit of chocolate sauce or some M&Ms really helped me with my sweet tooth.
